The White Stripes Play A Secret Show A Winnipeg Transit Bus, Help Its Passengers See God

File this one under 'Jack & Meg are the coolest sister-lover-brother bandmates ever.' While on their Canadian sightseeing tour (shows in each province), the Stripes set up something special for a handful of message board trolls. Here's what the YouTube uploader had to say...

This is a video clip of an unannounced afternoon show in Winnipeg. We heard on a message board of a surprise show at the forks in downtowm Winnipeg. We were ammong 20 people escorted into a bus, which picked up Jack and Meg at the next stop.
The clip picks up with the Whites singing "The Wheels On The Bus Go 'Round And 'Round," before taking a request for "Hotel Yorba." Some of the exlamations you'll hear:

  • "You guys are like the awesomest, I swear!!"
  • "This is the craziest thing in the world!!"
  • "Oh my fucking god this is insane. Holy Christ this is insane."
  • "Ohhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
  • You won't see god, you won't see a great visual, but you weren't there! Still lots of fun. Click the box to enjoy, and big thanks to Mark for letting us know.

If you want to hear more from that guy that goes "Oh my fucking god" here he is again at their little bridge performance of You Don't Know What Love Is:

And then they "performed" with a busker:

In fact they've been doing these free impromptu gigs throughout the Canadian tour.

Man, someone needs to shut that guy up. If his "oh my fucking Christ" screams were that loud on the video, I imagine they were just as annoying in person, while people were trying to enjoy the awesome experience at hand.

Turning to your friend, nodding, and smiling foolishly is enough to let people know you're having a killer time, without being a douche and yelling over the music.

The guy in this vid is almost as bad as the 25% of the audience at the Pearl Jam show in Halifax that got loaded and constantly yelled shit like that.

I'm with everyone else regarding "OMFG" dude. I too like it when my favorite artists play a cut that strikes a chord with me and usually express this gratitude with applause as soon as the song has ended. You can hoot too. Just wait for it.

Really...This whole overzealous hyperbolic lot should be cordoned off into seperate chambers so as to hinder them from spraying their fan-jizz all over those adjacent, or worse, those performing.

Ugh...I'm so angry I missed this. I thought they'd do a show, too, because they did on in Edmonton.
The show was EPIC but there were the worst drunk fatties in front of me and my friends were to douchey to sneak me onto the floor.

Good grief, these surprise shows are awesome. I wish I lived in Canada. My favorite is their playing with the street performer. That guy sounded right up Jack's alley. And wow, Meg looked amazing in that one, as well as the "You Don't Know What Love Is" street performance. I am phenomenally attracted to Meg, these days.

Wow, I didn't know Canadians could be so annoying. I'd expect a more polite "This is really great, eh?"

I have to vouch for the zealous Canadians. I would be losing my fucking mind if Jack and Meg were playing Hotel Yorba for me on a city bus.

God I wish I saw that!
