Tokyo Police Club & You Say Party! We Say Die! Cover The Rentals

They took a good eight years between recordings, and suddenly they are everywhere: Matt Sharp's geek-rock troupe gave us a taste of the forthcoming Last Little Life EP, and now they pop on our radar within the same six-week stretch ... though less consciously than last time. Proving their influence on the young Canadian post-punk scene, Sharp & Co.'s "Friends Of P" got the encore cover treatment from fellow friends of "P," TPC and YSPWSD. It's a tad slapdash, but then collaborative encore cover songs usually aren't rehearsed to perfection.

The Rentals are so hott right now. Rentals.

Still advertising that lame OK Computer joke on the sidebar?
And the little cut-out letters with the band names all ransom-note style? It's like crazy computery. Mad official!

But seriously, that DMB "article" below is entertaining. Shitgum's best reporting of the year.

Apples In Stereo Energize Pepsi Rebranding

As we've mentioned in the past (2007), Robert Schneider's not afraid of the graceful sellout. So, no, we're not surprised that he and his E6 cohorts just scored a Pepsi commercial. (Heck, we already knew how much E6-related bands loved...

The New Year - "MMV"
