Somebody worst than Lena Dunham exists. Wow.
A lot of female rappers seem to have this competitive male mentality where they gotta go after whoever is hot at the moment for XYZ reason. This stupid beef shit is lame as hell. Azealia comes off as some snobbish elite that thinks she's important and people have to listen to her opinion because at some point a few years ago Pitchfork was giving her music praise. Just because Cardi might be illiterate and doesn't qualify as 100% black to you doesn't mean you gotta come at her with everything you got. It's some petty shit that just makes everyone involved look like clowns and only serves as entertainment for folks that wanna see people of color go at each others throats to confirm their preconceived opinions that we are all uneducated and lack respect.
I honestly think Valee should leave GOOD Music and sign somewhere else. Even with Pusha T in charge, I don't think the label is helpful when it comes to promoting the majority of their artists and shaping them to develop quality music that reaches a wide audience. Also, bossman Kanye should make other artists wanna abandon ship and avoid being in limbo like Cyhi.
The entire album is already available to stream if you preorder or if you find the private SoundCloud link (I found one on Reddit).
I can already imagine all the negative reception his upcoming albums and tour sales will be receiving because he is pissing off a lot of his core fans and critics. His mental situation and ego will only get worse if the music doesn't receive the reception and praise he thinks it deserves. Anyone ever notice how rappers tend to release albums more often versus artists in other genre's? As if they are worried about falling off and losing relevancy. I highly doubt if he disappeared for a few years that people would forget about him. His team always came off as yes-men and the Kardashian family doesn't seem to be helping him by letting him tag along and stay in the spotlight. This dude needs to seriously go away and go see how other people live outside of Calabasas (Kardashian neighborhood where a lot of celebrities live to avoid the L.A. majority).
Oh, the artist. Kanye strikes me as the kind of person that responds to people using paragraph long texts.
You're crazy for this one prick!
I am gonna just conclude that Sisqo West is going crazy again because he doesn't know who lives and dies in Avengers Infinity War.
Also, I would like to add that Rick Rubin (who very rarely tweets and then deletes) posted this a short time ago after these Kanye/Trump articles started appearing - https://twitter.com/RickRubin/status/988480760431525888?s=20
From what I have gathered, Kanye is really close to Rick Rubin who oddly enough seems to be a follower of alt right dudes such as the creator of Dilbert. I have noticed a few online articles about Rubin being a follower of right wing people and I believe at some point he was following Trump himself on Twitter. I'm assuming since Kanye's last public mental breakdown, Rubin has been like an advisor for Ye because they have been spotted with each other a lot. Also, Rubin I think is an executive producer on Kanye's upcoming albums (just like on the previous two LP's Yeezus and TLOP). This friendship seems like the most obvious link as to why Kanye seems to continue saying pro-Trump comments. Personally, this shit sucks because I used to admire both individuals work, but as a Latino American I feel conflicted to continue supporting their music.
1985 reminds me of the days when Nas was rapping about Hip Hop being dead and Jay-Z wanting to end autotune rappers on D.O.A. Both moments backfired and both rappers moved on and eventually accepted that the game is forever evolving and there is nothing they can do about it. Both rappers arguably remain relevant and respected because they created their own lanes and continue to make music that uniquely reflects their persona's and age. Cole reminds me of these other old rappers that are annoyed about how the new generation is spending their money and their subject matter. This new generations music may seem dumbed down but it just reflects the shitty environments they come from and the constant feelings of hopelessness and not giving a fuck due to their upbringings. Cole should try to find his own lane and stop complaining about the new guys because eventually there will be some other rapper to take his place as the disgruntled boom bap sheriff.
Pssh... What I really wanna know is when is that Fonzworth Bentley album coming out? That track with him , 3 stacks, and Ye is highly underrated.
I remember when he was one of the first signee's to Roc Nation almost a decade ago. He still surprisingly remains one of the only consistently successful rappers on that label and doesn't seem like a dead weight (yeah you Jay Electronica). I respect he has a dedicated fan base because they think he stands out compared to the other rappers playing on the radio. But his music sucks. I respect if you're a fan but this guy is probably one of the most overrated rappers ever. Jay-Z probably knows this because he rarely jumps on tracks with Cole. He does nothing to elevate rap and his albums sound like a combination of Nas worst songs.
Aw damn I have neither of these streaming services.
On a scale of GG Allen to Ian Mackaye these white drug obsessed rappers are Avril Lavigne bad.
Out 6/1 huh? Probably not gonna listen to this a lot during the summer, but once fall comes I will have this on repeat if it is as good as his previous work.
Is this the depressed drug obsessed R&B Weeknd or more of the "cuz I'm a motherfucking starboy uh uh uh look what you done" Weeknd?
This sounds like a song for some Godzilla/Kaiju anime from the 90's or Men in Black. For Blade Runner 2049? No.
What if the real reason Arcade Fire keep releasing albums is to remind the NBA to keep inviting Win to their Celebrity All Star Game's? Maybe Win has a celebrity basketball game addiction? Maybe their just releasing a Tidal exclusive Everything Now B-sides album with Win Butler basketball commentary? Who the fuck knows..
This song is the feel good equivalent of each Friday during elementary school when it was pizza day and you couldn't wait for the weekend to start. When the track changes up it reminds me of when I would jump into my mom's car after school and for most of the ride I'm just thinking about taking off my shoes and playing with my video games because grown up shit was of no importance at the time.
Nah. April 28 is the 118 day and April 29 is the 119 day of the year. Add them up and they equal 237. Plus 74 aka the average age of the Koch Brothers and Mercer Family (major Republican donors) and that's three motherfucking eleven. Guess who's playing Saturday? 311 anyone? This is just a secret meeting to convert SoCal residents that are tired of people making fun of them for still listening to ska music to join Paul Ryan's conservative revolution.
This dude is like an evolved version of Death Grips. You can actually understand the lyrics and the beats are insane. Maybe the Death Grips comparison might put people off but I think he's got talent and people should pay attention to what he's gonna do next.
I think he's eating corn on a stick? Looks like corn with red chilli and mayo or the corn is burnt. Anyways, it looks delicious.
It's like they got inspired by my favorite part at the end of the Twin Peaks intro and turned it into a 4 minute video. Also, this song is pretty great you guys!
Neil Portnow has the face of someone I would want to throw a vinyl record at. With the cover on too. Maybe one of Angel Olsen's LP's? Nah, that would be a waste of good music.
I think Dollar Tree Kohl's band seems more appropriate.
Of course there are other issues that motivate him. To show up each year and not win the most important award of the night must bug him though. He knows he's the best right now. Not just in rap but in music overall. Dude meditates and probably channels all these things into his lyrics which end up contributing to his status as a living legend.
Whatever... This is just gonna motivate Kendrick to make another classic.
I can see the Grammy committee immensely fucking up and giving the AOTY honor to Troy from Community. When trying to justify this decision, Neil Portnow aka clone Wolf Blitzer will say "well hey guys we recognize the hip hop community and our diverse voting committee made an excellent choice selecting rap superstar, Wu-tang name generator guy".
*Plays "Grammy Family" aka one of Consequence's small contributions to rap music* *Puts on comfortable loafers* *Turns on the TV* *Watches the Royal Rumble with nephews*
Man, what a massive waste of good beats.
ASAP Rocky AKA "WhatsApp Ricky" - Liam Gallagher
I thought they were gonna name the baby Donda Chicago but then I realized in Spanish it almost sounds like "where did they shit".
I recall when Outkast was starting to blow up and people were questioning Andre 3K's sexuality. It used to bug me as a kid how people were initially turned off because they couldn't look past 3k's looks. Gangster rap was at the peak of it's popularity and a lot of the rap community were questioning 3 stacks clothing choices and his choice to wear wigs. 3 stacks paved the way for the current generation of Atlanta rappers to look eccentric but have unique rap persona's that other rapper's loves to imitate. Atlanta is considered the weirdo rap capital. Even to this day, there is a sense of pride and prestige associated with being a famous rapper from Atlanta. By talking shit about LGBTQ, this current generation is giving Atlanta a bad reputation. Maybe some of these rappers are too young to remember Outkast when they were playing on MTV and BET. Migo's are like around 25 so they should remember how misogynistic and homophobic rap was like during the late 90's/early 00's. Three stacks paved the way for these dumb fucks to be a weirdo and different. They need to stop with these lame ass homophobic lyrics and continue to evolve and embrace different folks.
I just realized Ed Sheeran looks like Gwildor (the dwarf) from the 80's He-man movie.
Say Warner Bros owns the rights to this album. Could they, w/o permission from Prince's estate, put the album on a streaming platform if they wanted to?
Damn... Why you gotta disrespect mash potatoes and mayo though?
But 14 years after her death though? Seems like a lot of these Rock Hall voters saw the trailer to her Netflix doc and remembered who she was. Also, maybe it's a generation thing but being on a list made by Stereogum or the other site feels like a better honor compared to receiving recognition from the Rock Hall of Fame or the Grammy's.
