I don’t think they’re “hanging out with Disney children” as much as they thought it’d be fun to do a music video with a bunch of random famous people playing tennis. Sometimes silly and ridiculous is just silly and ridiculous. I don’t think this idea was hatching in a Disney boardroom; I wouldn’t worry.

of Montreal is putting out a record and not playing the summer festivals?! I don’t know what to believe anymore.

of Montreal? They’re about to head out on a warm-up tour, and seem to be festival addicts of the highest order, something’s up with that missing.

Definitely the best list I’ve seen. Reading through this just felt good. It just gets more and more right as you go on. I was so tired of seeing lists without things like Discovery, Illinois, Hissing Fauna, or Sound of Silver.

I am apparently the only person on Earth that thinks Lifted, and maybe be even Cassadaga, is a little better than I’m Wide Awake. Whatever, great job guys.

wow, I didn’t even notice that the Postal Service wasn’t there, because its so obvious that it should be.

Ouch, no Beck/Sea Change in the top 100. Also, I have yet to see either Gorillaz record on a single 00s list, guess I’m really alone in appreciating their stuff.

I don’t know how many people expected Beck to keep Record Club going so long, much less have it keep getting better. This is a massive improvement in production quality and videography from the previous Record Clubs, so I’m very excited. From previous Record Clubs I recommend you check out “Run Run Run” and “Master Song” from the Velvet Underground & Nico and Leonard Cohen respectively. This is definitely the best so far. In fact, there has been a trend of awesome acoustic stuff from Beck recently. His acoustic re-recording of Modern Guilt is in my opinion significantly better than the Danger Mouse produced record (Gamma Ray acoustic with string bass and bongos is incredible), and I also think he did a great job with Sonic Youth’s “Green Light” for record store day.

I’m more worried about him doing a new LP at all, whether or not its a state album. We might not ever even get Impossible Souls, Age of Adz, and those other new songs on a record at all.

of Montreal AGAIN! Awesome, I guess they can handle 15 months of touring no sweat.
Also, to add to your list:

White Stripes resurrection (longshot but possible)
Gorillaz 3rd record (quite likely)
LCD Soundsystem (confirmed for March!)

Well, at least part of this has to be attributed to the ticket cost. It was more than $50. This summer The Dead Weather played the same venue for $15 – $20 less, and they brought with them a lot more of a tour rig and presentation. The cancelled 2007 White Stripes show at the Paramount also cost less than this. Last fall Conor and the Mystic Valley Band played the Showbox (not a theatre, but a quite large club, also in Seattle) for only $20. The problem was that the Monsters chose to play a charity tour and still make money. This entire tour seems to be made up of expensive shows at big venues.

Most glaring omission I found was Demon Days/Gorillaz. I would have picked Lifted rather than Fevers and Mirror’s for Bright Eyes too.
