Any chance this was at the GvB/HypeM showcase in 2013? Had a very similar experience as yours with them at that show.

With that haircut + those sideburns, he's lookin a lot like Isaac Brock.

Particularly awesome if you follow Victor's IG account and see all of the similar art he's slingin on there.

Word. Jai Paul may not get the most popular nods. But if there was one artist whose music from this "fad" will "stand the test of time", for me it's Jai Paul.

I relate 100% on this. While I was somewhat familiar with Modest Mouse before the "Float On" vid release (thanks, kewler middle school friends), the stylistic similarities and utter ubiquity of the "Float On" and "Take Me Out" videos led me to confuse the two bands, which is hilarious in retrospect. But summer '04 memories are stitched with these two tracks.

Hey Claire, The Soundcloud embed is showing "currently not available". Definitely want to hear it though.

I was listening to rapper Geo/Prometheus Brown of Blue Scholars describe the show to KEXP tonight, he said it was "the visual equivalent to Yeezus" aka "epic minimal". Thought that seemed fitting, plus a stark contrast to the last, maximalist tour.

"Fire Dream' is a rad album... Just did a podcast with Ryder & Alina, yakked about their similarities to & thoughts on Dirty Projectors, Haim, Brainstorm, Chairlift and some others. I dig the staccato, intelligent vibe they've got goin on, but it's still got grooves too.

Funny that Slate published a very, very similar article literally within one minute of Stereogum running this... http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/music_box/2013/10/lorde_s_pure_heroine_and_haim_s_days_are_gone_reviewed.html

Way dope. Great to hear DOOM back, Earl's transcending OF and I love hearin' FlyLo expanding his horizons.

I can't tell if this is A) completely serious or B) one of the best crafted jokes I've seen in a while. Either way, that stationary is rad.

Agreed. "Astro Coast" was excellent and I still replay it. Listened to everything since with an open & excited ear, but it just doesn't seem to get my goat. Hopefully the album will surprise us, eh?

Totally agree with "Hard to Explain" as #1. What a gem of a jam that encapsulates what is/was so damn good about the Strokes. We actually just did a podcast discussing the utter significance of "Is This It", the bumpy road to "Comedown Machine" and how it finally sounds like they're enjoying music again with the latter... http://wp.me/p1tIWN-21s

Little ridiculous that Action Bronson is #3 and Kool AD isn't even on the list. Joey needs to be higher, cmon.

In retrospect, it's amazing how relatively little recognition/hype CC has gotten after churning out three great records. Diggin this one already.

Awesome, thanks for sharing Corban. "Breakers" was excellent, curious to hear the rest. Saw them debut a few new track lasts Dec in Seattle (http://apesontape.com/local-natives-debut-songs-from-new-album/). One was apparently titled "49 Palms" (not on the "Hummingbird" tracklist) and another that was unnamed at the time. Will have to see if the latter matches with these...

Lonersim, definitely my personal AOTY (http://apesontape.com/album-review-tame-impala-lonerism/). Feel like detractors are writing it off for including musical elements that *gasp* other humans have used before. That never happens though. Anyhow, will give this puppy a spin so I know what I'm missing!

This is odd to see, because Das Racist's press release stated Talib Kweli was one of their "least favorite rappers". ie: http://do512.com/c/sx2012/bands/das-racist. Anyhow, guess they changed their minds.
