Your opinion is wrong.

Listen to “The Well and The Lighthouse” to further improvement of it.

Where is Fever To Tell is more like it.

I think ga ga ga ga ga is great, but nowhere near kill the moonlight. And in my personal opinion, neither of those are as good as gimme fiction. Have you listened to The Beast And Dragon, Adored lately? JESUS CHRIST

Bill hates everything because everything is not Bob Seger.

I really like this band’s record. The first song, “And the Hazy Sea” is amazing. I would listen to it if you haven’t.

I don’t think their songs sound pieced together, i just think they follow a more linear structure. It’s easier to listen to if you’re not waiting for a chorus. As for his voice, you should just be more tolerant. Why so quick to get annoyed? His voice is good for getting ideas across. Maybe not in the best way, but it works. I think it adds some aggression at times, too, in a kind of Bear vs. Shark way.

What a badass. I actually really like keep it hid. It’s one of my favorites so far this year.

Bless you James Mercer. You are one of the finest lyricists around.

I think Aural Apothecary is a really cool label name. It’s very Shinsy

And i think it’s Joe the Plummer, not Joe Plumber.

When i hear this, i realize how much better the lyrics are than if it were an actual killers song. And how Conor is a much better writer than brandon flowers. And how he is really just a good writer in general.

Does anyone know where to find the address for Third Man Records/Studios? I drove all around nashville today in a ditch attempt to find it, but was not lucky.

I think Animal Collective’s lack of musical knowledge is very attractive, especially considering how musical they are. It allows them to create music with a structure of their own. I couldn’t make music like animal collective’s because i probably know too much about musical structure.

And with Grizzly Bear, they obviously know something about music, and then consciously choose to push the structure further away, which is just as admirable to me.

You are both wrong.

Yellow house > or = Veckatimest

And then in a completely separate arena because these bands are NOTHING THE FUCK ALIKE other than that they both make interesting, thought provoking music:

MPP > Strawberry Jam

Just because two bands coexist and have common fans does not mean you can compare them like apples to apples. One thing that is killing music is to have a huge umbrella term like “indie” over many good things that are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and then comparing them like it’s all the same. Fuck that.

I’m not wanting Yeah Yeah Yeahs to write the same kind of songs all the time.

I really like Show your bones, especially songs like Warrior and The Sweets because it showed another sound they could have. With this album, i just don’t think it feels as much like an evolution. It’s more like change for the sake of change alone.

Also i think it boils down to personal preference. If i was a big fan of electronic/dance music, like plenty of YYY fans are, I might be perfectly fine with this.

Also, and i may sound like an idiot, but i think there might be three Y’s in it. Two of them are made by the egg splatterings above her hand. They’re divided by the yolk. And then she’s making a Y with the three exposed painted fingers. I mean seriously, who crushes an egg like that?

 0Posted on Feb 28th, 2009 | re: Premature Evaluation: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! (72 comments)

It seems to be Karen O’s hand in front of a white wall, and in it she has crushed something which can only be described as an egg. Most likely of the chicken variety.

In high school The YYY’s were one of my favorite bands. They were number one for a good 6 months. In fact, if it weren’t for the YYY’s i would never have listened to so much of the garage rock that i love. They helped me better understand organic music as well, but this album doesn’t seem organic at all.

I don’t mind dance music or electronic music, but i never wanted the yeah yeah yeahs to do it. I expect this album to grow on me, just because i respect the band so much, but i honestly don’t like it. It doesn’t feel like a new sound for them, or anyone for that matter. I guess i can only listen to a drum machine for so long before my ears get fed up. And Is Is was sooo good and exciting because it seemed they were holding onto their garage roots.

I guess what i’m saying is that i’ll just listen to dull life on repeat for three years until the next one comes out.

I just listened to Rockers To Swallow, and then this again. I’m very fearful of this new album now. This sounds like something Karen O just made for fun on a computer and it accidentally leaked on the internet. It doesn’t sound like a new single.
