blonde is perfect i listen to it all the time
ya not only of course not, but why pit those two against one another? just bc they’re on the same day? we don’t need another rage reunion at coachella, drop them and add lana and you’ve fixed it. frank is quite possibly the most impt artist of the past decade and also his fyf show fucking ruled making this rightfully deserved. sry tom hot take dismantled
these singles make sense. how do you even follow up a decade defining album like blonde? i'm here for a sparse low key breather of an album until of course the next classic
or a beach boys cover lets be real
also this week is dedicated to cellophane live um whattttt that shit was goose goose bumps
wtf is up with earl? these albums are so goddamn dense and challenging but i literally cannot stop listening to them. SRS is somehow prob one of my most listened to albums from last year and tho i love the hell out of it i can't necessarily explain why i love it so much. i feel i'm in a different world walking around listening to him anyone else?
it’s miles! of course it is bc this list is great. i’d prob either replace hereditary with midsommar or have both on there, but otherwise can’t argue with any inclusion. it follows/mandy prob my fav of the bunch
this album 100% deserves big thief hype, and both artists are prob my top listened to this year ughhhh
y’all we still got fka. nfr is absolutely incredible but revisited cellophane yesterday and goddamn if i’ve heard anything even remotely gut wrenching and beautiful this year
it’s all just so cultish and Serious in a way it feels like young people tend to conceptualize music (other than swans, who black midi totally reminds me of live) and i am so happy i was able to see them at this point in time
oh god ryan. i was there, front and center, one person from the stage, and of the whatever 1000+ shows i’ve been to over the years that was easily one of the best. first, the hideout is soo fucking cool, BEANS! damn. second, there was a genuine eerie and terrifying undercurrent to the show. how serious they all are, yelling at one another about songs. when the other guitarist fucked up his guitar and grabbed a new one but had to tune it while the front dude was waiting for him was STRESSFUL. the guitarist was screaming fuck at the ground, rushing to tune, jeeeesus. i love how they communicate what songs to play with subtle glances and musical notes. near, dt when the guitar screeches after bassist screams about lead in the water is one of the best musical moments EVER
great write up. agree, it was beautifully transporting. i even sat for once and just looked up at the sky for most of the set. very peaceful
it was misererable. guess only haim got the memo when they all went shirtless to close out the show
this set was equally frustrating and wonderful. i stan sky forever, but i’m amazed how a group like standing on the corner could pull off a fucking mind melting performance with (here we go) 6 sax, 2 clarinet, 3 trumpet, 2 violin, cello, stand up bass, bass, 3 guitar, 3 drums, i think a bongo, synth, missing a few instruments even, with gio running across the stage like a madman directing the experimental jazz symphony with perfect sound, and for sky somehow we couldn’t get a rock act to work. i dunno who that falls on, but damn it was upsetting bc i had to dip out early for earl bc not gonna miss any of some rap songs. omg tho she sounded wonderful and i blame myself had all of us in the first few rows jumping and singing and smiling. new song sounded dope as hell hope she’s not being too hard on herself after yesterday
damn, hard disagree. admit to questioning whether with just two albums under their belt they’d be able to effectively headline a fest, but daaaamn they are a tight, well oiled, major rock act and they sounded/looked it. also major LOLs when they repeatedly streamed the dawson’s creek intro in the background
on that note, anyone at p4k? i am here and it’s fucking hot and i would love to meet some of y’all if interested. standing on the corner live today was fucking revelatory omg made me miss most of rico nasty. it was pure symphonic avant-garde jazz also, hi, i know i don’t post much and prob no one knows me anymore, but reason i am at p4k is bc i am moving to michigan (ann arbor) to start graduate school, a culmination of years and ambivalence. i still read every single day all the comments and love you all. thanks for the reliably wonderful content always
it’ll all be over by dj koze is a summertime jam that went under ta ratar
fuck yes los espookys
my god, this pharmakon song is fucking amazing
aight y'all seeing chromatics 2nite!!!
dream river for me. bill's one of my fav musicians tho, so everything is incredible. this new one is something special
also this might be a silly question, but should i see little simz or chromatics tomorrow night. obvs i love and should see chrom buuuut i love that little simz alb ugh
for some goddamn reason i cannot connect with the Nilüfer album despite being an early supporter when she was only releasing singles...gonna spend more time with it given y'all's high praise. the biggest question of 2019 for good ol dick is whether big thief actually made a better album than weyes blood. jury's still out. both are near perf
you literally beat me to this joke by one minute
Lizzo + Kelsey Lu for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
yes! omg will never forget first listen. just got out of a sf giant's game, which was surreal bc i never go see sports. blonde had just leaked that moment. walking through downtown sf, listening, and taking in a sunny, gorgeous bay area day. then sat a bar, third listen and posting on here with you all fine people. wonderful memories
agree, that album changed my life and probably many others
I can’t stop talking about how amazing this album is. Easily my favorite of the year so far, maybe one of my favs in recent history. It’s so beautiful the twists and turns these songs take.
Agree this will prob be a great album cut. Nice to see them continuing down the Currents path. That album is a classic imo. Nothing at all stacks up to the new Weyes Blood album tho sry. That’s out of this motherfucking world
Shit slops. Love the bisexual lighting
just leaked and it's so goddam glorious. i foresee this being a top top 2019 contender
Been a minute, but anyone obsessed with this Little Simz album like I am? Goddamn
Climax is a fucking gem. Loved it so so much. RJ did you see Mandy last year!? Prob my nutso 2018 fo shooooo
wow joking ref jeez i obvs love the guy. nilsson everybody's talkin vs fred neil's version???
I’d say quite possibly. I come back to it more than any other AC project. I also think this new PB album is fantastic. I’ve listened a few times on headphones only, but I’m stoked to blast on speakers. It’s a subtle, wonderful progression with all the same PB warmth we’ve come to know and love.
