If a "recommendation of “listen to the music and shut up” = you’re likely a homeless sex offender" then not listening to an artists music because of perceived fakeness of the comments supporting her makes you a hipster piece of trash.
I post here all the time and I am a fan of hers, if the possibility that most of these posts are fake bothers you then you're failing at life. Listen to the music, if you like it then move on if not then move on.
She posted something on her facebook encouraging us to comment on this article so it would be one of the most commented. They're just fans showing support.
I was hoping for both The Antlers and White Denim on the coachella lineup but take away them and the Beach Boys and I'm left with either bands I will see this year at Coachella: Radiohead, Bon Iver, The Shins, St. Vincent, Tune-Yards and Feist or bands I skipped last year: Foster the People, Two Door Cinema Club, Skrillex, Flogging Molly, The Joy Formidable, and Phantogram.
Jesus Christ the word retarded is not offensive, It means delayed in terms of your actual age vs mental age. It's an actual medical term in use in the DSM-IV. Go watch another Jane Lynch commercial you sheep who have no idea the actual definitions or etymology of words.
theres greyhound in indio usually greyhound offers special coachella fares on that week so you might have to book early. I know someone who spent under 50 bucks for a round fare from LA to Indio and back again but that was a couple years ago.
I'm stoked and would be going no matter what since I already bought the ticket but I seem to be the only one who is a little underwhelmed by the lineup. Sunday seems to lack sub-headliners I'm personally excited to see besides Beirut. Plus I can already see a scheduling conflict where I miss out on one of Real Estate, Metronomy, First Aid Kit or Wild Beasts. I'm also a huge Black Keys but everyone who has been to Coachella has most likely seen them. This will be my 4th time seeing them there, I guess I just expected more since they have tickets being sold for two weekends now. No matter what Its worth the total price for just the camping on site and one day of the music.
It's more hipster to act like you like this decision to review this album that no one here really will ever listen too. Liking every type of music doesn't make you worldly it makes you a lying douchebag.
Wow Tom your willingness to go against the grain and buck what we would expect you to name album of the week makes you so cool. Ignore the fact that less than 1% of your audience will actually like this album and do a full review. I've said it before but Tom's taste in music sucks major dick.
For this to be ironic it would mean that Jack was intending for this to be a serious project. Unless you think this song is actually good and his intentions were the opposite. Thats how situational irony works. If anything Jack probably thought this collab would be camp.
Is anyone really surprised a double LP from basically only one guys isn't hitting for the highest average of hits / total songs? I don't see why it's a problem though. I'd rather my favorite bands incude more songs and I'll weed out the ones I don't like.
See I interperted that when Kanye wrote Im in love with a pornstar he was commenting on the duality of man, the need for man to crave love but also lust. Haha ok so you find Arcade Fire Juvenile but" Im in love with a pornstar" deep on multiple levels thats fine but You've avoided the most direct parts of my arguements. Just tell me that Im wrong, that Kanye and Jay-Z are modern day Sam Cooke and Smokey Robinson or that Kanyes discography holds his own when compared to Arcade Fires catalog of work and JayZ career is on the same level of a Radiohead.
That post wasn't really about hip-hop as much as the lack of uber-talented black artists like the Motown recording artists. Hip-hop just happens to have the most (only) famous black muscians today. Face it the musical aptitude of any rapper is no where near a Smokey Robinson "The greatest American poet".
If you have eyes and can read lyrics you can see the lack of ANY musical instrutments played by ANY rappers and repetitive topics of every single song. You don't have to be a fan & why does everyone give rappers a pass when it comes to artistic difficulty? I hate to sound like an old man (Im 24) but just because we grew up with rap doesnt mean that we shouldnt hold them to the same standards as rock. So Kanyes good at making beats but cant sing, or play an instrument and his lyrics are juvenile and shallow. If I held Kanye up to the standards of Arcade Fire it wouldn't be fair to mention his last LP in the same sentence as The Suburbs. Don't think that I hate rap or that I feel it his no artistic merit, it's just that its been getting graded on a curve the last 10 years. Pauls Boutique was/is one of my favorite albums of all time, I still listen to Eric B & Rakim all the time and I couldnt count the hours spent listening to Biggie, NWA and KRS-one but Im pragmatic and in a meritocracy no one would dare say Kanye and Jay-Z are on the same ball field as say an Arcade Fire and Radiohead in terms of artistic difficulty, muscianship or overall talent.
Since I'm not a fan of any current hip-hop I'll refrain from commenting on the song but hearing Kanye and Jay-Z over my favorite Otis Redding song just makes me feel sad. It reminds me that theres not many real talented black muscians or singers out now-a-days. Besides Tunde and Kyp fromTOTR I'm struggling to think of many. When you compare kanye, Jay and Wayne to the likes of Otis, Smokey and Sam Cooke no black artist today could be in the studio with those guys and not feel embarassed by the lack of real artistry in their songs. You'll never hear a rapper rap about heartache like "Cupid", "Tracks of my Tears" or "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", You wont hear desperation in a rap song like "Change is Gonna Come" or "Sittin on the Dock of Bay".
This song sounds like the next step from "Wild Mountain Nation" and "Furr". Destroyer of the Void was my least favorite album and this new song seems to have less in common with that album than the 1st 2 albums. This song has a sound that reminds me of my favorite band "The Band".
Am I the only one who feels like they must be taking crazy pills every time someone talks about the Foo Fighters being such a great band? They weren't even good in their prime.
