Vegetarians don't get to eat bacon.
Transference is criminally low
The only song I care for on Under the Blacklight is "15". I'm probably the only one but I actually love that song. "Our skin is like grass / let's smoke it real fast"
I think you kind of oversimplified the narrative here. Lewis is actually listed as a co-songwriter on that "Bank and Trust" song, so she must have been comfortable with the lyrics. Props for the list though. Pretty much spot on.
Can't help but agree with you wholeheartedly. Not saying Yoshimi is the best Lips album but it's certainly among the most widely known and beloved by fans who don't really worship the whole Lips catalog. It reeks of obstinateness to not only place it so low, but place it TWO slots BELOW At War with the Mystics, which is essentially a (nowhere near as good) retread of Yoshimi, which is even acknowledged in the review ("One can be forgiven if Lips titles tend to run together...") This list has many other problems but this detail screams defiance more than anything.
I don't know much about Major Lazer other than I saw their set at Pitchfork last year and it was probably the worst/dumbest live show I've ever seen.
I just did a search on this article and the ensuing comment thread, and raptor jesus' comment is the first instance of the text "NYC". How the hell is that possible?
Weirdest comment I've ever seen on here. In keeping with the dude above me, this is like saying, "The Godfather 1 is leaps and bounds better than the Godfather 2." Uhhhh.... okay.
What's the point of this cover? It's basically the same as the original only not as good.
You've obviously never been in a band before
You obviously didn't read the article (Jordy) where he debunked all your points.
Ever heard of a sequel?
That's cool.. three dudes spend years of their lives mastering their instruments only to be dismissed as random "goons" by some dude on the internet, who has no idea what the creative process is in the band is and about the presence/lack of a songwriting collaboration.

How come this song didn't make the list? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0
Dude come on. Even if you don't like the song you have to admit it at least shows some welcome artistry, which is more than you can say for recent #1 artists like LMFAO, katy perry, maroon 5, etc.
Maybe it's the low-res stream, but I'm not hearing any difference between this and the demo.
Switch the top and bottom albums, and you have a respectable list.
You're either a troll or a moron.
I'm guessing you're not a Beatles fan...
That song is actually pretty terrible. Hard to believe MIA made such a good song out of it.
At first I was sure this had to be an animation, but if you focus on one section of the cover the movement stops. Wtf.
That sounds absolutely awful. I
Way to make an effort Jay-Z. Gotta love how these big-time rappers take so much pride in their work.
My first inclination: CBS (like much of the media) is sensitive to the "liberal media" accusations from conservatives, however unfounded they are. Might not be the reason behind this, but it's my guess.
The fact that "U Can't Touch This" makes the list makes it completely irrelevant.
I still can't get enough of this song.
and i'll always have reinventing axl rose and as the eternal cowboy to spin when times get rough, so that's something.
five years ago i didn't give a shit about either of those bands, but i worshipped against me! i know i sound like one of those bitter when-dylan-went-electric people, but so be it. i loved the shit out of these guys, and now they suck. it just stings a little. but i wish them all the best.
that's a good question, actually. gaslight anthem is what against me! would have sounded like if they had remained good when they went commercial.
Last two albums we're good in spots but this is a little too polished for my taste.
A pretty good song on an otherwise awful album. I used to be a huge fan of this band, but they've grown from groundbreaking anarchist folk/punk to run-of-the-mill pop. So dissapointing...
they may have stuff in, but they are definitely not inducted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_and_Roll_Hall_of_Fame_inductees
first that comes to mind is joy division, though the smiths, the cure and sonic youth are also far more deserving than some of the nominees.
