James Murphy will still do music, just not as LCD Soundsystem.
So, what does this mean, two more albums? I guess that’s okay. It’s better to be remembered for the good stuff. They might have reached their climax with The Suburbs, now they can only go down, so that’s smart.
One more reason to watch them live now while they are at their best.
“The music now just seems to be Kevin Barnes stringing together as many provocative sounding phrases as he can.” I think you have just wrapped up my thoughts about any of Montreal album post-Hissing Fauna. They just seem unnecessary, yet they are hugely entertaining and way better than what any other artist is doing, depressed or not. I, for one, support Kevin Barnes doing however many albums he wants as long as he keeps his genius lines and awesome pseudo-psychedelic catchy music.
And, if anybody didn’t like Skeletal Lamping, I suggest you give it another listen. It’s the work of a mad genius!
Here’s my review of False Priest: http://thestrangulation.wordpress.com/2010/08/28/false-priest-of-montreal/
Yes, it’s a lot more focused than Illinois. Here’s my review of it: http://thestrangulation.wordpress.com/2010/08/24/all-delighted-people-ep-sufjan-stevens/
I’m sure that’s what they intend to do in the future. Basically they’re just testing the grounds with these live free concerts.
And this is still the album of the year.
Sorry, Arcade Fire.
I liked it a lot, I think they balanced the 3 albums really well. I’m watching the re-broadcast right now, that’s how good it was. Anyway, here’s a short review: http://wp.me/pZMTg-1z
You pretty much said it all. Any list without Titus should be burned.
This is a bad list. You made a bad list, Amazon.
Seriously, TItus Andronicus might have the best album this year. At least Spoon, the Black Keys, LCD and The National have good spots.
Weird that the names of the songs aren’t at least 5 words long.
Well I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I just found it odd how fast some bands make it big and how long it takes for others. I love both of these bands and I would kill to see them live (and to see them playing together would just be a mindfuck).
Am I the only one that finds it ironic that Spoon, with like more than 10 years in the industry and like 7 albums, is opening for Arcade Fire, with like 5 years and 2 albums?
What is Sufjan Stevens doing there? He’s just standing… talent wasted!
I’m gonna wait for somebody to make a GIF out of Berningers’ “smooth dance moves” near the end of the video.
I’m sure that’s exactly why you’re not a frontman.
Craig looked high as hell.
I saw these guys last week, they were opening for the Arctic Monkeys.
Jim James looks OLD here. Is he going bald?
I just heard a recording of this show and they sounded great. I think they even played a new song, maybe it was a cover.
Can you make it a folder?

It is called Illinois. But, I was thinking today, how The Age of Adz could be Sufjan’s Digital Ash. Both in sound direction, and also in that it’s probably the last good thing he’ll make. Perhaps he’ll have his own Monsters of Freak Folk eventually, or whatever.
