I would tend to agree with you re: actor/musician cross-overs. He was great in this film, too. I never really got into TVOTR, so I had no idea who he was until after the fact. (I was, however, VERY excited to see both Fab 5 Freddy and Robin Hitchcock also in the film.)

I’ve also never really liked Anne Hathaway for some reason, but even she was great. Well cast all around.

Caught this movie last weekend and LOVED it. Demme’s use soundtrack was powerfully done, indeed, and Adebimpe’s “cover” of Neil Young was very touching. A beautiful and extremely moving film. HIGHLY recommend it.
