Anyone else enjoy The Manic Street Preachers record? I played the hell out of Journal for Plague Lovers.
Also enjoyed the No Age and Deerhunter EP’s, though understandable that they’re not on here since they’re not full-lengths
Glad to see Cymbals Eat Guitars on here, though I feel Why There Are Mountains ought to be at least top 30. That record sounds great live too.
Destiny’s Child?
The Killers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs were my favorite sets of the weekend. Crowds were awesome at both, and they played the hits. I also really enjoyed YYY’s starting with Runaway for their set, which was the best, if not the only way, to truly integrate that song into the performance.
Other miscellaneous thoughts:
Kings of Leon sounded good, but that’s about it. I was surrounded by too many drunk ass-holes, and KOL sounded better at Lolla 2 years ago.
No Age was awesome despite Randy’s broken arm.
Bradford was pretty funny/on something during Deerhunter’s set, but Josh Fauver was the Best thing about their performance.
Los Campesinos! kicked ass, especially when Gareth dove into the crowd during Sweet Dreams Sweet Cheeks and then the drummer crowd surfed way back into the crowd, and I think got lost.
Because pitchfork posted it first.
I was going to leave early on Saturday if they didn’t get a good replacement, but fuckin a, Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Couldn’t be an easier decision for me now
Congratulations Lady Gaga, pretty sure we can actually see your hoo-ha in one of those pics
This is sad that it ended this way where he was in such bad shape for the last decade or so. Yes he had his problems and I don’t justify anything he allegedly did, but MJ had an extremely difficult and pressured childhood, a particularly tough relationship with his father, that likely had some substantial effect on his later personality and life. Just let the King of Pop be for a little while, geez.
Not be nit-picky, but the date should be 6/18/09 for the show, unless somehow this was a report from the future
The animated portion seems a bit of a rip offfrom Of Montreal’s Id Engager video, especially in the transitioning.
To be fair guys, amrit’s comment about either living in the UK or hating Kings of Leon is pretty funny. I guess some of us read everything 100% literally. I mean they did get famous over there first/the UK is generally obsessed with them, way more so than people in the US are.
I definitely still enjoy Kings of Leon. They are fantastic live, I think anyone who’s seen them perform ‘Trani’ live can attest to that. Yes, Only by the Night was a misstep for the most part (Closer and Crawl are fairly good), but their first three albums are all good records and are very different from one another; they didn’t just make the same record three times in a row, something praise-worthy in my mind at least.
Verdict: JBizarre can’t spell
Give them a break, at least they didn’t but Kaiser Chiefs on here
Yeah, ok list, but there are some missing. Bloc Party: Silent Alarm has to be on this I think. Other more recent indie records that are deserving: The National: Boxer, Band of Horses: Everything All the Time. Also the 1 album per artist rule is bad for Pavement and Ted Leo as well.
The hilarity from this “feud” really makes me want to see someone try to start some shit with No Age.
zooey plus jenny = massive indie boner
Yeah, Green Day may be the first ones to really understand My Chemical Romance…oh wait excuse me, “The Black Parade”.
i believe my chemical romance already did this cover…except with an unnecessary amount of blood
I’ve been surprised to not see The Raveonettes’ Lust Lust Lust on more year end lists. I played that shit out of that one, but I’m sure people have their reasons

where’s the love for Thomas Mars? he’s so aloof and adorable
