Like Smashing Pumpkins with ‘Adore’, this seems to stray away from a particular sound which made them so famous. I guess you could argue “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”, but I really think this could be for the better.
Saying that, I’m also pretty worried – let’s hope there are stronger tracks to come. I *really* want to like this new album.
@day n nite – totally agree with you there. I’m a total advocate for bands changing direction, despite the temptation of churning out the same sort of stuff album after album (Oasis?). I’m just preparing myself for loads of people to hate it because it isn’t another O of S. Risk-taking and diversity, regardless of the outcome, wins Brownie points from me.
