I think the real problem is that when something is downvoted, it then isn't shown. People should be able to express differing opinions without being wiped from the site.
Yeah, I think AOTW should be written on Monday, based on the previous Friday's releases. Then people would have a chance to form an opinion over the weekend and have an informed debate about the merits of each album.
I accidentally downvoted you and I can't change it! Sorry I suck, but I agree with you completely. Enjoy the damn show and let the people behind you enjoy it without your phone blocking their view.
I like how they didn't even try to hide the fact that most of those were complete rip-offs, just kept the same song names and lyrics and called it their own.
This whole rating system is completely arbitrary, so who cares? Why don't they just have a plaque for streams and a plaque for sales? That's double the plaques that Rihanna can now receive! This is a no-brainer.
Saw these guys when they opened up for Wavves. They absolutely killed it, and won me over as a fan for life. Can't wait for the new album. If you get a chance you should definitely see them live.
As a dedicated Rdio user, I've recently noticed a lot of the problems with streaming services that I had ignored before. Now that Rdio is dead, it has been a real pain trying to figure out which service is best, and bring over my whole collection of favorite artists and playlists from Rdio. It makes me miss the days of owning a CD, or even having a digital file that I could organize in iTunes or some other media player. At the same time, I love the flexibility that streaming services give me, allowing me to listen to any kind of music at any time with barely any effort from me.
Great article Michael. Some really important issues are brought up here. I think one of the most important points that was briefly touched on is the relationship between labels and artists. Even if labels manage to get bigger payouts from streaming services, will any of that make it to the artists? I'm not sure what the solution is to that problem, but it seems like the major label system needs a major overhaul.
