Wow, This band used to be so good in every way but they are just getting worse and worse.
that 3 part guitar harmony is pretty cool live. And that guitarist with the tele has to be someone’s goofy dad.
really great. and it shows that amber wasn’t all that far off.
ya i love the dirty projectors (ex Rise Above and Bitte Orca) but this song is in fact annoying and not as well composed as some of their other songs.
even with all that vocal thickening effect and distortion the the mix still sounds as thin as ice. Pick up your act Tonight Show sound guys.
ed is probably pretty mad. This is a guitar based song and he still isn’t playing. I’m afraid he’s going to quit the band.
how can he just skip over boston?
ill bet those hipsters were told to not look at the band and act indifferent. I don’t think most hipsters are that indifferent. They would at least be trying to catch a glimpse of Dan’s finger work.
I would assume that the drummer of Passion Pit (Nate or his DJ name Shuttle) actually did this. It sounds exactly like his style. He does those kind of house type remixes. He is actually really good and great live.
that is absolutley obnoxious.
ha really liked that video. I hope no one is pissed becuase they think it was trying to evoke some deep meaning that just turned out to be bullshit. This video was just for the mood and a good reason to get them in strange costumes and dave with a lama all amongst some nice scenery.
she is at least a foot and a half away from the mic yet she sounds like she is singing right into both of my ears. What an amazing mic.
That sounded so pristine. I am assuming he uses an effect that thickens his voice like a really quick tape delay. But who is playing the synth lines. I don’t think I saw that keyboard player with a synth. I would think with 6 people they could manage to play all the parts live.
Obviously Animal Collective > Grizzly Bear because hey didn’t get on the Billboard Top 10 which makes them way more indie. Ha. What a fucking joke.
absolutley amazing. That is one of my favorite songs on the album and this is such a great version. JV is always making some great tunes. He deserves more recognition.
the coolest part of a doves show is that they have 6 macbook pros on stage at all times. It’s not actually the coolest part but its funny.
All this talk about ripping off songs. I’ll bet they hadn’t even heard the Adam & Ants song when they wrote Percussion Gun. The guys were probably just banging on toms and found a cool groove and everyone really was into it. Pretty much no bands purposefully take parts of songs from other songs. No one thinks that is a cool thing to do, neither does it fulfill their creativity. it just happened. Either way the song still is original.
This band is so lame now. They used to be great, and looked like nerdy rockers. Now their music is boring and trite and they look like they are in Creed. Not to mention how terribly stupid that video was.
Boring is just a matter of taste. I think those who are calling these guys boring are into the more possibly rocking, fast or in your face kind of music that makes you either want to dance or break things. Yes Grizzly Bear make more mellow music but it is filled with wonderful details and textures. Chris Bears ghost notes are not boring, and Rossen’s guitar style is so unique and they all have such great distinct voices. Not boring music if you aren’t just playing it as background music to dance to.
PS. Ed looks really tired.
don’t forget they used to play instruments. No big deal that their new album is primarilly electronic music that pretty much can’t be replicated without samplers. They wrote all the tunes and programed the sounds I’m fine with them hitting buttons on stage to recreate the incredible soundscapes they did on the record. At least they can sing pretty well.
ya that sound was way off. The drums were so loud and everything else except the acoustic guitar where at a whisper. Why do tv sound guys always forget to sound check.
it was hardly all that off, you guys are freaking out over some really minor issues. And yes Chris is the best drummer in Indie Rock. Anyone else notice they switched to a less prominent w sound in the oh harmonies then they used to do?
she is great. I don’t mean to divide dirty pros and pick favorites but she is my favorite. What a great voice. these solo songs are amazing. Two Doves is a such a highlight of Bitte Orca but part of that has to do with Longstretchs manic finger picking 30 different chords guitar work.
yes the vocals did sound doubled at some points. I doubt he was playing to pre recorded tracks becuase it would have been impossible to match up so well. I am assuming it was just a vocal effect that doubles what the singer is singing and off sets it a few milliseconds like a tape delay. Actually a pretty cool feature for live that I would like to get my hands on.
Also those drums sounded kick ass.

So glad he choose the Mum drummer and Nico. There sound is so prominent in these songs. It’s almost more of a new trio than a solo album.
