Am I the only one who loves Broken? Other faves would be Last Living Souls, To Binge and Feel Good Inc. I dig Albarn’s shit, but I find his albums uneven.
I was, and still am, a Secret Machines fanatic. Anybody who was fortunate enough to see them live knows how epic Benjamin Curtis’s guitar playing was on perennial closer First Wave Intact. I’ll miss his talents and those moments in live music that can’t be replicated.
Well-written list. I’m a fan since War and its nice to see Zooropa and ATYCLB get some love. Most big U2 fans I know diss Rattle and Hum, but I dig the majority of it. I’d put How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb last and agree that Achtung Baby is #1. Still hope they can put out one more great record, something edgier than the last few.
White Man in Hammersmith Palais
Songs from the Big Chair and The Hurting are New Wave classics. Haven’t cared for most releases from TFF after those two records, although Sowing the Seeds of Love (single) was a pretty good piece of Beatles-worship.
Teen Dream Dream has so many great ones, I would have included Lover of Mine and non-TD songs You Came to Me (my #1) and Equal Mind. A couple years ago my two year old son heard me play BH and made me play him Zebra 100 times at least.
so many great ones from Deerhunter. Mine something list this:
Spring Hall Covert
Nothing Ever Happened
Twilight at Carbon Lake
Everything they do is great and underrated. Faves include “Hold on to Your Genre” “Patty Lee” & “Year Before the Year 2000″. Anything off Inches.
Crystal should not be on a list of NO’s top ten, even though its a decent song for late era New Order. Age of Consent, Dreams Never End & Regret are good inclusions, but True Faith has always bored me a bit. I’d include album tracks like Face Up, All Day Long and Your Silent Face and at least one from Technique.
