No one said anything about rules. It was just an observation. On a positive note, Jamie xx being “shouted out” by Florence, sampled by Rihanna and Drake, covered by a zillion others these days means his solo album, when finally released, will likely get some of the bump Bon Iver got from being pushed by Kanye. And ultimately, the guy deserves it because he’s talented and the xx album really is a special little thing that is quite unique.
Yet no mention of GSH…the song’s actual starting point. Awesome. Next up, some girl from X factor who loves Florence will do a version fit for grandma. It’s getting to be like the telephone game. The Jamie xx ubiquity is getting old quick too. Not his fault, but it’s kinda silly at this point.
Neon Bible didn’t even crack the Top 20.
After just seeing that Florence cover and hearing Rihanna and Drake this past week, I’m shocked that Jamie xx, being a Brit and all, isn’t on this list. Isn’t that supposed to qualify that guy as cooler than Drake and Florence?
