sufjan and doseone? damn.
trust me, this isn’t really the same music they want to make either. songs get revised, revised, and revised again with major labels. if it was just them, you’d be hearing an entirely different coldplay. and high expectations of critics? critics LOVE coldplay and will love this album.
that’s the thing though – the only reason their sound has progressed is because they were affected by all the shit that comes with major labels. it pisses me off that this is the smae band that wrote “sparks”. shit like “every teardrop is a waterfall” gets radio play, and i have this image of chris martin writing gorgeous, well written songs before he goes to bed at night.
sad that this is the same band that wrote “sparks”…
they just cut out the “uhh” sufjan said.
naive because it’s largely uninformed, self-absorbed because you are projected your experience onto what is really an individual issue. also, the world only has a sample of art from countless artists. do you say the same of van gogh? or hell, elliot smith?
hahaha the press pictures of adele look nothing like her. she’s marketed as the “plus size” artist who’s inspirational to women, then she gets 50 pounds photoshopped out of her.
of Montreal – “The Past is a Grotesque Animal”
i love this, but this HAS to be zach condon singing.
complete oversight.
uh, james blake.
Beirut – My Wife, Lost in the Wild
did you delete the section about her “breakdown”? just curious.
man, this is really cool. seems like some of their best stuff is left off their major releases.
yeah, see this is where i hate being part of the indie music scene…
everyone needs to chill out. it’s an album by a great band that owes you nothing.
a couple things…
i can see how kanye performing at sxsw can be seen as “usurping the spotlight,” but he has no reason to be rejected from the lineup. or to feel that he shouldn’t play because he’s “bigger.” should james blake feel bad playing because of all the success he’s received in the past year?
and as for kanye being the “antithesis” of indie music – i have to assume you only know the guy’s reputation, not his music. kanye is as far away from mainstream rap as the national is to mainstream rock.
a ryan adams quote:
TMR: Why did you do the Gap commercial?
Adams: I did the Gap ad, because who says no to $30,000 an hour? I don’t! I’m sorry if that’s selling out, so be it. Yes, I sell out. I do Gap ads so that I don’t have to work in a factory. Also, I don’t mind their clothes.
the website is so flooded i can’t complete my purchase.
shit, really? that will probably keep me from going.
Pink Floyd – The Wall
Not too crazy about it, but having heard live versions of some new stuff, I know this album will be amazing.
Joanna Newsom – Have One On Me

it was posted with incorrect lyrics to start off the review. looks like he a pulled a ninja edit. it’d be nice if he actually listened to it…
