omg yes! like, even if the guy wasn't autistic and was actually stoned on the job, harassing him by making a selfie video of him is not an appropriate course of action. just move on with your day fiddy... asshole

i completely get that she isn't doing it to sell records etc, i know that she is a political artist and i love her for that but i'm just not sure this was entirely successful in its execution. she has a lot more agency as an artist than a girl who lost her family to a drone strike, which is the perspective she says the song is from, so i feel she could have addressed such an issue with a bit more nuance. that's the problem with juxtaposition as shock tactic, it can be a bit icky.

great track sonically but feeling very uncomfortable about the use of drone victim suffering-as-lyrical-refrain thing. a bit too madonna-provocative, not enough m.i.a.-provocative...

great read, and ultimately pretty depressing to get a glimpse at just how cynical and meaningless the industry can get.

omg he's so awful. look how pleased he is with his contrived and obviously forced attempt at 'throwing shade', ugh. he should stick to making lite pop, no one cares what he has to say in interviews. oh and he looks like a thumb with a haircut.

wow this is gorgeous! even if it's a bit off-beat for the usual bond fare i can't believe it got turned down in favour of sam smith. well, i can, obviously, but still... also, still waiting for björk to do a bond theme too. maybe if she hadn't already recorded 3 amazing bond-esque songs in the first place... (play dead, bachelorette and wanderlust)

white people reading a black artist's lyrics in a posh accent? wow, groundbreaking comedy right here... -_-

December 15, 2015 on Watch Amy Schumer, Bryan Cranston, Kristen Wiig, & More Recite The Lyrics To “Hotline Bling”
honestly i agree with her, the fact they couldn't even be bothered to get the song names and artists correct shows how sloppily and disrespectfully this project was slapped together. there's nothing wrong with western artists experimenting and delving into eastern music, as a lot of the artists covered on this record were doing at the time with western styles, so it makes sense for western acts to rediscover these artists and bring it full ciurcle, but as a long term fan of iranian and arab and thai psyche music it's incredibly disrespectful to not even credit the artists properly. like well done you got a couple of compilations... and i'm sorry guys but the whole project (sexwitch, shamanism vibes) is so very reductive of myriad different cultures and times, so she also has a point there, much as white people hate hearing about it...
