Well, remember, The Flaming Lips is not just Wayne Coyne. Steven Drozd really brings much of the music, and along with Dave Fridmann's ground-breaking productions, you can't throw them aside just because of this squabbling.
That said, Wayne's dealing with this headdress nonsense is no good.
This is going a little overboard. None of us know exactly why, Kliph was fired. Sure this could have been the last straw, but as with any 10+ year relationship, many things go into its demise.
And don't forget, Steven is as much the genius behind the lips as Wayne is.
A few years back mtv/Springsteen addressed this.
"The Super Bowl performances are all on tape....There is no way you can set up a full band in five minutes with microphones, get all the settings right, and expect to get quality sound," Neuberger said. "The Super Bowl has been doing that for years with virtually all the bands."
In reference to Yo-Yo Ma;
"There were too many variables keeping the instruments in tune while playing outside in cold weather," he said. "You can't control the environment, so the smart decision is to record the performance and play along with it."

Glad to see some agreement, on the lazy (although understandable) Talking Heads associations. She started doing brass powered grooves on 'Actor'. Take a listen to 'Marrow'.
Wow dude, why are you taking this so seriously?
Look they arent going to turn away anyone. They are merely suggesting everyone dress up to help heighten the experience of everyone attending.
You know when you attend a football game, and everyone has the colors of the team on? Everyone feels apart of it, connected, a sense of we're all in this together. Thats what theyre going for.
Sure you have Chvrches recent buzz/success, but what about the far greater successes of The National (and comparable bands) playing Barclays Center, fun. & mumford storming top 40 with guitars, Young The Giant, alt-j etc selling hundreds of thousands of records/getting radio play. They might not be as dominant as they were, but they certainly arent going any where. It will always employ the same emotion/sonic value and when people want that theyll use it/seek it out.
Her issue should not be with Foxygen, but with critic/writers/hype machine/fans. Its all about what happens after the music. To me, they are young kids, with a goofy name playing music that sounds like the music they love. And while derivative, they are damn good at it. Her turmoil is over the praise and significance this music is given. Dont ask for more from your bands, ask more from your blogs. ask more from FANS. After all, the demand is what drives the coverage.
for real, I love frank ocean but his performance was easily the worst of the night. He was all over the place and missed a ton of notes. Sorry.
Jack White on the hand, destruction. Also, loved the Marley tribute.
See I heard bits of the first two records, but Scabdates blew my mind. I was into punk and the idea of improvisation and only playing what you, the band, wanted to play instead of the hits? Shit, that was cool and more punk than anything NoFX has ever done!
And then came Amputechture. I see the problems people have with it, but I personally hold it right up there with Deloused. I was so excited to go on the journey through their 15 minute, over stuffed with ideas, "songs". But there is without a doubt a sonic shift there, and was different from their predecessors.
Just a heads up, that is now how Miles and Teo Macero recorded Bitches Brew. They would actually do extended jams based on super loose ideas and then Teo would go back and assemble them into "songs". Omar's method is much more akin to how Woody Allen does his films.
Ya, Bruce at #1 seems right in line with his priorities http://timheidecker.com/post/37123075992/a-few-words-on-my-new-job-as-editor-in-chief-of-rolling
