December 8, 2011 on Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums Of 2011
After about 4-5 listens my favorite songs are 'Lonely Boy,' 'Gold on the Ceiling,' 'Hell of a Season,' 'Stop Stop,' and 'Nova Baby.' I read that the Keys went into the studio with absolutely nothing and worked with Dangermouse from that point. His influence is a lot more evident on these songs than his work on Attack on Release. 'Stop Stop' especially sounds like it could have been on the Broken Bells or a Gnarls Barkley album. That's a good thing though; I bet it will be released as the second or third single. Also, I'll wager anyone that the intro of 'Nova Baby' will be used in a commercial by this time next year. Anyways, this album was everything I hoped it would be. Like Brothers, I HAD to download the leak, but i'll be picking up the CD on december 6th and probably a few extras for christmas presents. Thanks Dan, Patrick, and Brian!

Fallon's sound stage is soooooo much better than Saturday Night Live. Colbert's is up there too.

I respect your opinion, but I don't feel like "Dawned on Me" is cliche...it's just a really good pop song. The chorus is so catchy and the mood is so bright, it kind of reminds me of the pure happiness "I'm the Man Who Loves You" or "Heavy Metal Drummer." Honestly I can't believe they didn't pick it as the single- not that "I Might" failed to excite me for the album or isn't a great song in its own right.

Helplessness Blues is way better than #19. House of Balloons is top 5 for me...and to not even include Panda Bear and Radiohead...what a shame

Why do you have to bring race into it? Also it's not like Tyler was living in poverty before this either

Ever heard of the concept of escapism? People like listening to Kanye rap about being on top of Mt. Olympus or having a big ass pharoah chain for the same reason they like hearing Tyler rap about chopping up bitches- they're both overexaggerations in different ways. I love that OF released all of their music (up until this point) for free, but thats also the easiest way to get yourself noticed. What I'm trying to say is that you don't always have to personally relate to a song to enjoy it, sometimes THE MUSIC is great enough to get you caught up.

It's good. Not 'My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy' good or "Sir Luscious Leftfoot' good, but its still way better than most of the stuff established artists have been putting out recently. A lot of rappers burn out early, but I think Tyler and the rest of OFWGKTA will only get better. I also think Tyler is saving his best beats for when Earl is back, rightfully so.
