I thought the Jamie Foxx film was contrived garbage.
“Most of the shots are still, which is lame to me because – with the exception of the intimate camera work in the drinking scene – most of the movie doesn’t take advantage of the fact it was shot in digital”
And this critique is straight bullshit. If he wanted the film to be mobile with steadicam shots, it would have been mobile with steadicam shots. A film doesn’t NEED to ever take advantage of technology, and if it does apparently do that, then the intention of the piece, as a film, becomes muddled.
Walk On is still one of my favourite singles of the 2000s.
Ashtray Wasp is probably the best track of the year.
I actually think if you amalgamate Burial’s work this year it would be one of the best LP’s of the year. Like a Godspeed! album, but for UK electronic music.
Madvillainy is one of the best hip-hop albums ever made. Oh and DangerDoom would have been way better without the annoying cartoon voices.
Best album of the year so far.
