Strangeways is not a terribly experimental record?? Come on… there are trumpets in “I Started Something I Couldn’t Finish” , there is the amazing piano solo at the end of “Death of a Disco Dancer ” and you have that weird crowd screaming above a minimalist piano tune for 3 minutes in “Last Night I dreamed…” It is still one of the finest pop albums ever made and my personal favourite Smiths album along with Meat is Murder. I never really liked The Queen is Dead as much as those two.
