While that statement generally would leave me with a good feeling, those comments being used in this situation does not warrant applause from me. No one is calling the victim’s liars at this point, as it is extremely possible that the things he is accused of are true (even if it was a case of one party being less aware of the BDSM nature of the encounter), but for Owen Pallett to ‘bravely’ say that it doesn’t make victims liars is absolutely not how due process and such is supposed to work.
He is blindly accepting the fact that their version of the story is 100% accurate, and believes that JUST BECAUSE they accused Jian, he is automatically guilty. This is simply not how justice works, or should work, We saw a situation in the indie community very recently with Bright Eyes where many believed him to be guilty of rape just based off of a forum post. The perpetuation of and commentary on that story will likely affect Bright Eyes’ life and career for the rest of his days. What really bothers me are the countless people who posted the news of his accusal, but not his acquittal. There are very likely many people out there who do not know that he was found innocent as much less publicity was given to that fact.
Essentially, I’m upset with that statement because it operates on the assumption that Jian is guilty until (and even after) proven innocent.
This just makes me extremely happy that if accused of a crime, I don’t have to answer to the fucking indie music community, as I’d surely end the ordeal with 40000 volts running through my system.
Yeah, I interpreted it the same way. He seems to equate the assertions leveled against him with complete and unequivocal proof that he is guilty. This is simply not the case (Remember the allegations against Bright Eyes that have since been proven false), and while it does indicate a potential likelihood of guilt, by no means does it prove that he beat these women. For Pallett to come out, completely unsolicited, and further drive home the message that Jian is guilty despite no additional evidence is quite despicable, and definitely made me lose most respect for him.
It depends on the day you ask, but I’d go with the White Album just because it has such variety on it. I also think it has some of Lennon’s best material. Glass Onion and Dear Prudence, in my opinion, stand in the top 5 best songs the group put out.
My favorite guitar effect is Tremolo, preferably one that sounds close to a Fender Twin Reverb
I don’t see any problem with this whatsoever. I can’t see how he is gaining anything from this. It just seems like he was a fan of the band, and made a tribute video to honor Kurt. Apparently, he may be a douchebag in real life, but I doubt any of you have personally met him in real life and cannot accurately judge him because of that. I’m not a fan of his band, however I thought he was a great actor in the films I’ve seen him it.
I honestly just don’t see what you guys are bashing him for. You’re hating just to hate with no basis.
Great fucking song. Love the shoutout to Adventure Time, great show.
