People should be ashamed of themselves for digging garbage like this. Come on already, is this a joke?

Must have been something in that review the Strokes camp didn’t approve of.

Came in here looking to check these guys out over the endless hype they keep receiving across the board. Was expecting some life changing shit. In return I got to sample a slightly better than mediocre, formulaic post punk song. Come on guys, is this the best we can do these days? I mean, it isn’t bad, they’re surely a lot better than all the rehashed synth hipster crap that music blogs keep churning out by the bucket loads, but the bar has been set so low. This has been done over and over again for the past 12 years. There’s nothing dangerous about it. No problem with bands backing this kind of spent fare but if going this route, the songs need to be incredible and this is just so-so. Maybe the rest of the album holds up better.

Sounds like music that would be in Beverly Hills Cop. Come on…

Basically The Strokes can do whatever they want and the general public are going to hail it as genius. I realized this after seeing the ridiculous Fallon clip. That was one of the worst performances I’ve seen by any band in a long time. But hey, they’re The Strokes. As long as they look good and put a couple decent songs on every record they’ll always be at the top of the heap, regardless of the pitchforks and stereogums out there.
