Andy, you are the champ of this post. And thanks for saying what has bothered me about this whole thing from the beginning. It's not like the crazy extremists are the only ones affected by it.
As an actual high school student, I can say that, yes, we do still make each other cd mixtapes. The more you know! And thank you so much for this.
I think it's a good idea as long as you don't spoil the endings. : (
Ahhh! I was going to make the same pun! But I will be gracious in defeat, here is an upvote.
But Christoph Waltz! Oh well, I guess he's canceled out by Cameron Diaz anyway.
YES. I've been meaning to watch Twin Peaks for a while, and it would be pure motherfucking magic to have people to discuss it with.
But he's not a ginger...
I love George Lopez. And Fugees and Funyuns.
One of the funniest parts had to be the Bieb(I call him the Bieb cuz we're bffs)'s back-up dancers. I think it was the second song, what were they doing? If I knew how to make a gif I totally would.
Aw, I want to wish Videogum a Happy Birthday in person too, but I'm not 21 or famous. I'm RSVPing for the 5th birthday party in advance!
Leno fan trolls are the most boring trolls.
While I wish that was true, actually a woman on the plane was also kicked off for breaking the fat rule.
Duh, Gabe. His character's name is JASON, not Josh. What an insult to TGrace that you didn't cherish every word that fell from his glorious lips when he explained his significant role in what will probably be the best film of the decade!
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. You think it is sexist. I think it is not sexist. Nothing will change that.
I love that this "lovable, mongrel-like entity" exists. And I'm a little bit scared.
It took me a very long time to realize she needs his "protection," not "production."
I highly doubt the fact that Up did not have a "significant" female role (though that is debatable considering the house is representative of his wife, who was the truly adventurous one) sets any kind of precedent for Hollywood to create animated films without female characters. As a female feminist who agrees with the fact that it is tough to find interesting roles for living, breathing women, I hate to say this but you are coming off as the worst type of Jezebel commenter right now, ignoring half the facts to make some big point that doesn't really make sense. Up was a good movie, in my opinion, and deserves to be considered one of the best of the year. No girls will see this and think, "Oh no, adventures are only for old men and Asian boys! and I guess also giant birds and talking dogs! I'm just going to be weak and squeeze out a few babies in the kitchen!" Wall-E doesn't say adventure is just for robots. Ratatouille doesn't say adventure is just for rats and chefs. They are all fun movies that anyone and everyone can enjoy. As a side note, can't you be supportive of the fact that Up featured a character who wasn't white and never did a thing to point out the fact that he was a "different" race? That's pretty good considering Hollywood today.
What did you have? A dick for breakfast this morning?
The only thing better than Zach Galifianakis is Zach Galifianakis in a wig.
While I agree with your sentiments because I love Michael Ian Black and Simon Pegg and hated that movie (I blame director David Schwimmer, because David Schwimmer), I don't think it is bad enough for the hunt. Disappointing considering the talent, but not over-the-top horrible.
How bout some SPOILER ALERTZ for that book I'm never going to read! Now I'm crying!
Can it really be??!! This is the best Valentine's Day ever!
Nightman looks better than ever!
I will upvote this gif in any context, I love it so.
I was wondering the same thing about how "Shit just got real" got to be a popular saying because I don't know anyone who has actually seen Bad Boys 2. I like to think Hot Fuzz has something to with it since that is what introduced me to the phrase. And because I like thinking that everyone has seen and loves Hot Fuzz.
Sure! I will join almost any club. And I am 18, so technically Chris Hansen can't swoop in anymore.
I hope Videogum is still around to have a Pizza Party 3 years from now when I'll be in New York and old enough to drink. And I hope that by then I'll have enough confidence to talk to strangers at parties! :( because young and in boring Jersey.
I think it's mostly because they comment so much, sometimes saying just completely pointless things. I guess it's like familiarity breeds contempt? I don't know, even though they get annoying sometimes, I don't ever downvote the regulars. Except that time Napoleon hated on Queen. Some things are sacred!
I haven't been checking every day or commenting lately because I'm a senior in high school (gross, right?) who is trying to work on a portfolio and still hasn't sent out any apps yet and is freaking out about having basically no money for college, but I finally took the time to catch up and it cheered me up some. Videogum played a big part in helping me mentally survive high school since I started reading over a year ago. Gabe and Lindsay and everyone made me laugh a lot and helped me ignore high school stuff and teen angst and other stupid problems that older readers of this site can roll their eyes at. Anyway, enough personal junk that I needed to vent, and a huge thanks Gabe and all you monsters! I hope all the food you stuff your faces with tomorrow is delicious and none of your family members get drunk and start ranting about how Obama is a Marxist elitist with a fake birth certificate who is destroying our country!
Agree! I always thought Gabe was a little too hard on Juno, which, while definitely is one of the most overrated movies of all time with some truly insufferable lines, really was pretty okay. But Nick and Norah is so completely unwatchable it makes Juno look like Citizen Kane.
Yay! I'm so excited Gabe's going to watch Twilight (because my life is sad)! Obviously anyone with any brain cells at all can guess that it is terrible, but I don't think you can really understand just how bad it is unless you actually see it. Hold on tight, spidermonkey!
I thought last night's Sunny was one of the best of the season. I was so glad they finally stopped arguing and yelling over each other for a while. It's TBS very funny sometimes, but when they rely on it too often it can get TBS very annoying.
Where'd you find that picture of me?!
I agree, as a non-Twitterer, I feel so out of the loop! I read Videogum because I'm anti-social. Now everyone's all internet socializing and it makes me feel like listening to Marilyn Manson in the dark while writing poetry in my marble composition book and weeping, my tears washing away all my black eyeliner I've had on since yesterday.
