I see all of the backlash on calling things IDM and also calling things Trip Hop, but that is what i called those things for years! What else do i categorize the stuff as?
I had a burned cd with most of the interludes taken out that was in my car forever in my weed smoking hey day, that was a big mistake, the flow of this album is incredible if you have a movie length time to burn on some intense jungle and idm.
My heart skipped a beat when I thought that Radiohead-adjascent The Smile just released their first song with Robyn.
The best and catchiest melody from the entire record was from the verses on the original version of this song.
I was also one of the people who thought Everyday Life was pretty good!
Man, just comparing Viva la Vida to this absolute trash is funny, like "you are my universe, i want to put you first, you make my heart light up" that is supposed to be the world-conquering hook?
So you just troll articles and defend Machine Gun Kelly of all people? The dude was a mediocre rapper at best and then had all the money and resources in the world to put together a shitty cash-in of a pop-punk album.
Really love all of the stuff i've heard that has been posted here, time to deep dive!
I like this wayyyyy better than the squeaky rap voice that seems to be in style.
I am bummed that the incredible Amnesiac B-sides are not on vinyl though....
🎵 I GOT MY TRIPLE VINYL, I GOT MY TRIPLE VINYL 🎵
As Tom mentioned, if you kinda let it drift into the background, you will randomly be pulled in by some amazing parts, but mostly this is not good. I will playlist it and cut it down to like 9 songs. Also, whyyyyy did they cut The Weeknd dueting with the full choir down to just one line? It sounded amazing from the webcasts.
Can i just get the Kendrick part as its own song? Holy hell.
I know i shouldn't put up with his shit anymore but this rollout has been kind of fun.
Definitely feels like a lot of ideas just chucked at a wall. I'm sure it will be somewhat popular due to personalities involved, but nowhere near either of these artists' peaks.
Bring on the return of maximalism, I think we've already reached peak bedroom whisperers.
I will wear my stereogum shirt as tribute.
This is a big moment for me!! Love this community so much.
Plenty of valid criticisms you could lob her way, but girl can definitely sing.
I haven't spun this fully yet, is that just the NDA single?
Well this rules.
"If lil nas x can be gay, then dababy can be homophobic" is certainly a take.

I liked Assume Form, but i LOVED Before, this seems squarely in the line with the former.
I'll go to bat for 'How Not to Drown" but yeah the rest are pretty vapid to my ears.
What is this comment section? When did we turn on Phoebe Bridgers, I'm excited for the Minnesota stops!
I'm glad I picked up the box set, this album is somehow as good or possibly better than his already god level albums.
Came here to also say this and the Tyler album being high AOTY contenders on the same day rules.
No, the last record is a really strong return to form.
The first half is some weird happy inverse of Double Negative (which was my fav record of 2018) and that back half is great I am very excited about this.
More like "Just Like College" am i rightttttt
The real guys can get stadiums to sing Idioteque, lets hear it The Foo Fighters and Dave Chappelle.
In '06 when i went to Radiohead my first time at Bonnaroo (still the most magical concert experience ive ever had) Beck was on before them and said "bet the boys wont play this one" and did a somber solo acoustic version of 'Creep' which was a very cool moment for me.
