With this in mind, I remember hearing all this same shit when By The Way came out. I don't know how people feel about that album now, but I feel it's definitely one of their best album, and it was one where they experimented and tried new sounds--like what we're hearing here.
This song isn't half as bad as people are making it out to be. I'm liking the texture on this new guy's guitar playing.
I agree with all of this except Burst Apart. Probably the most overrated album in a long time. In the independent persuasion anyway.
Anybody else feel the song was much better before that DnB break at the end? I can only assume you've never heard a Venetian Snares album if you were impressed by that at all. The dude was doing that kind of stuff years ago. http://youtu.be/2PBeKzVhWHY?t=58s
I agree. It's not cool to like Coldplay anymore, but I've accepted that they're just a pop band. They're not doing anything groundbreaking or original, but I'm glad this is the kind of stuff that will get noticed by the general public who only cares what's popular. I respect them for that. They could have just spent the rest of their career as just another James Blunt-esque pop band and i'm sure that would have made them happy. Also, this song is way better than that first song.
I hope i'm still alive in 30 years when The Age of Adz is appreciated like it should have been and hailed as a modern classic.
With that said, I downloaded the .mp3 and for some reason the vocals don't bother me as much on it. I don't know why.
It can be. Do what I'm doing, add it to The King of Limbs manually with Supercollider and The Butcher, and pretend they were already included. I'm sure there will be an mp3 of The Daily Mail too. : ) It makes for a much more satisfying experience. Not that TKoL was bad, but definitely leaves you wanting more.
I really love this song instrumentally, but Thom's vocals aren't doing ANYTHING for the melody. I'd love to hear a studio version, were something like that could be tweaked and perfected. Still, these guys are doing great stuff.
