Oooh baby do you know what that's worth? Oooh heaven is a bathroom on earth. They say in heaven, heart-shaped sunglasses come first. We'll make heaven a place with a gazebo. Oooh, heaven is a place with a gazebo.
Who said they were planning on informing them about birth control?
As an employee of a certain university located near a very large lake and a very large Midwestern city whose colors are white and purple white and purple white and purple, I hope my following words carry a certain gravitas: I hope this d-bag gets his ass kicked.
Okay, you guys, I'm going to bring up the elephant in the room (not intended to be a fat joke): Quilted Northern sucks. Suck-diddly-ucks. She may have only paid $.99, but she wasted her money.
Once upon a time in my undergraduate social theory class, I used Fight Club as an example of Freudian theory in pop culture. The professor read it out loud in class. Thus, Fight Club is about at the college sophmore level of profundity, but does not go beyond.
I think you are just bitter, which I totally understand, but it's not the worst movie. It's not good, but it's not the worst.
I never watched Running with Scissors because I hated the book so damn much. It goes beyond Worst Movie...
As we have discussed previously, I concur with Baby Friday. This movie is so gross on so many levels. However, I do love the part where Janine Garofalo says "P-Flag. I'm beginning to like the sound of that." in her Midwestern mom voice.
I had seen it when I was a kid, and I was bored. Then I watched it a few months ago and I was bored again. It's cool in a geeky way: the concept was ahead of it's time, and it's perhaps the first pop culture acknowledgment that computers are cool/fun/dangerous/important (I don't know if this is true, but it's probably close to true). But the execution was poor, and watching the original movie recently, I would label it quaint and forgettable. The new movie is really a lost opportunity. It would have taken a true genius screenwriter to make something new and awesome out of the original flawed concept, but it could have been done. Instead, they just made it a special effects movie.
Yeah, I agree. I am loathe to defend Avatar, but it had a story and the 3-D effects were WAY WAY WAY better. I mean, Tron could have ditched the 3-D and looked as good if not better. During Avatar, I sat there in utter amazement the entire time. Tron, not so much. The soundtrack was awesome. I just tried to pretend it was a really long Daft Punk video starring Jeff Bridges.
I have to point out that this was the SECOND time they've put Jenna in blackface.
You should start a website called Newsiesgum. I would be like the #1 monster over there. Except we wouldn't be called monsters, we would be "Pape-sters" or something like that.
I used to pluck my little brother's unibrow for him when he was in middle school (by his request). Maybe Gabe has an awesome older sister like me.
Thank you. I thought I was taking crazy pills for a sec. I can also imagine him as a scientist, a regular joe who gets his own reality tv show, a guy who ditches his fiancee for Jennifer Lopez, and a 20-something creep who hangs out with high school kids at the local pool hall.
Yeah, I get a fake vibe from this video, HOWEVER.... I'm just going to pretend that it is real and that Yes, Virginia, there is a Slayer Christmas Lights House because it is so kick ass.
I'm sorry, but I've already called Neville as my forever boyfriend (no pedo), and I did it way back in the or 5th book BEFORE he got hot, so it's true love.
Yeah, they get everything for free and the lot ends up being worth a ton of money and some of the stuff is not yet available for purchase in a regular store. I bet you could go on the show and then sell all of the "favorite things" on e-bay and make a nice wad of cash.
Yes! That part was awesome. Ron really amped up the looking-at-Hermione-with-longing-eyes thing, and Rupert Grint did it really well. Also, Emma Watson killed it. She's really good at that trying not to cry.
Yeah, I've read the books and seen all the movies, but I can't remember a lot of that stuff. Fortunately, I had someone with me who had read all of the books like 50 times and explained everything. I loved it and immediately wanted to see it again! But I also really had to pee by the end of the movie. (Too much?) Also, thanks G!
Ack. This was supposed to be in response to StreetzAhead's post above.
I don't know. I'm a pretty regular V-gum reader and have been around since Gabe was a tender 62 years young. I don't read every word, but I keep up with what the Monsters are getting on about. I had no what these guys were talking about. I'm going to go back to updating my Friendster profile and checking my Hotmail account now....
Does anybody else remember when Jason Jones hosted Craft Corner Deathmatch? Anybody? Just me? Okay, then....
The biggest bomb that gets dropped in the comments is that THE AUTHOR USED TO BE ANOREXIC AND SPENT 4 MONTHS IN THE HOSPITAL AND ALMOST DIED. I give up, people. I just give up....
I think this is a really good nomination. I used to love that movie and think Ethan Hawke's character was super dreamy. Then I recently watched it again as a grown up and decided it was basically the most awful movie ever. It was like an After School Special with 22 year olds. And we're supposed to be happy that Winona Ryder ends up with Ethan Hawke? Gross.
My thoughts exactly. I mean, yes, Vince Gill is married to Amy Grant, but other than that he is awesome. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME, VINCE GILL?
Yeah, this movie made me puke real hard on my 19th birthday.
I had my suspicions that Joan never had the abortion, but when I saw her puffing on a cigarette in this scene, I knew 100% for sure that she was still pregnant.
Nice try. I shall not downvote you, sir. You are obviously fishing here.
Shout it from the rooftops, brother.
That was an AUTHENTIC 1970s punk look. Also, all Ghost World references get upvotes from me.
This music reminds me of one time when I was looking for some place - ANY PLACE - that had a free wifi connection in my neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, and I ended up at this Serbian bookstore that served coffee, and they were playing the Serbian version of MTV really loud on a huge screen, and it was really crappy music, but there was seriously no other place that had free wifi, and so I stayed.
I used to read ALL of those books when I was a kid.
It's the most dangerous game.
