Come to think of it, regarding their most recent album, even more accessible for the Indie Electronica lover than “Nothing Is Something Worth Doing” is “No Turn Un-Stoned”.
Missing:
The Lemon of Pink by The Books
Up In Flames by Caribou/Manitoba
DUDE! i was just about to post about Shpongle. Indie Electronica lovers really ought to learn about Shpongle. Let me offer my opinion on the best access points:
Album: Nothing Lasts… But Nothing is Lost
Songs: Nothing Lasts, Divine Moments of Truth, Dorset Perception, Nothing Is Something Worth Doing,
While I agree that listening to Owl City ought to make everyone appreciate Jimmy Tamborello more, Ben Gibbard did a lot more than sing for the Postal Service. Ben has talked about the song-making process here and there, including for KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic; he has explained that Jimmy would send him projects with ideas–beats, melodies, etc–and then he would take them and rearrange/edit them to what he thought would “make a good pop song” (as he put it). And that’s on top of his lyrics, which play a huge role in hooks, not to mention meaning/content.

If you five really want to avoid D-Day, you’ll have to hide much better than that.
