Find Me On:
Everything I’ve heard on this album is wonderful. The production is unreal and the songs seem beautifully structured and executed. As a disclaimer, I’m not super familiar with their other records beyond the obvious hits, so I’m definitely not coming at this from the whole classic band making a comeback angle that a lot of other folks have. Which is totally legit. But I think it’s fairly objectively great music, at very least really fun and worthy of appreciation. Most of the equivocal comments on here now seem more like cowardice than honest critique. Just trust your ears, don’t wait for the consensus to emerge! If you don’t like it, say why specifically. We can only learn something from each other on this site if we’re genuine.
I’m stuck, because I understand that as an artist he can’t continue making the same whispery, gorgeous folk he always did. It’s pretty played out at this point, he left us with a number of amazing albums, and I respect his decision to move forward. But I just like that stuff so much better…
