Agreed completly, bands like Dr. Dog literally keep getting dogged on by Pitchfork, yet Lady gaga's ratings go up (7.8?) Really glad Dr. Dog is back, can't wait for the album to drop, keep it up.
Really hope kings of leon are not headlining, last time i saw them people where running around with signs saying "SEX ON FIRE". Wilco should headline before them. It would be nice to see someone diffrent headline for a change though. Paul Simon would be really incredible.
I was going to write my own little bit in this but you said it all. Legal rights to songs weren't that big back then, so i image a lot of artist did this, they just haven't been called out for it....yet. Still, in lames terms, this is fucking stupid
I was wondering the same thing, they investigated it as a homicide, but they made it very public, even allowing people to call a number if they had any tips leading to his death. Sad as it is, it makes sense, alot of musicians die this way..
I was only giving an example, but i can see what your saying. I went to the grocery store and heard "oh no" by andrew Bird. Sat their in the frozen food section just chillin listening to the music, funny that the next song after that was Green Day.
I Think it had alot to do with who we idolize and are passing off as musicians now days. In the 1970's, people like Jimi Hendrix where the music icons, now its Hanna Montana, something seriously went wrong. And its not just the grammy's, its MTV, the radio, everything.
Main Stream music sucks cause it appeals to people that shop and live in the mall, no one wants to hear "My girls" while they're picking out theyre favorite GAP shirts. On a lighter note, i'm really glad Phoneix got some credit, great album

Its pretty easy too see from your point of view when your sitting in a nice computer chair while someone over there is pissing in the same water that they drink in. I'm a realist too but i'm hopeful that not everyone in the world is an asshole. And as we speak i have friends and family that are in the Military picking body's out of the caved in buildings.

No offense but Smashing Pumpkins have a hard time trying to make a couple good songs, what makes them think they can write 40 + songs and still keep everyone listening, its too ambitious, too soon
Its pretty hard too pick only 23 pavement songs, only wish they included "Type Slowly" and " Transport arranged" on Brighten the corners. Pretty awesome still

Indie fans tend to be harsh about everything that comes out, and get pissed off once something gets big, I find myself doing that a lot and have to remind myself not to be so critical. Sometimes that understandable though, because no one wants to wanna hear about vampire weekend making a clothing line *cough* *Kings of Leon* *cough*
This is amazing, and i'm hoping that this is how it will sound because this is how it should be. Jon Brion a genius at putting sound together and i really hope it gives the edge that this deserves. I'm starting to think that Of Montreal are maturing in the fact that the glam look might be getting old to them, and its time to make this kind of music, either way its great
They would start turning head's when they start covering Nine inch nail songs and Radiohead songs. They already covered "Float on" by Modest Mouse...I will never hear that song the same again
Death cab needs to get back on their older song writing, making songs like they did on earlier albums. It sucks when the spotlight a band or artist gets makes them lose their edge. Really have liked their music for year but they can do better than this.
Atleast the younger folks are being introduced this kinda music, can you imagine a world where everyone would listen to nothing but shit like lady gaga or miley cyrus.
Everyone can agree MTV sucks, turn on MTV right now and i you'll have a 1/3 chance you'll see some kinda of dating shit. So having a desent band get noticed like this is a good thing, but only in moderations. I mean look at what happened to Coldplay, Kings of Leon and Muse and so on...
