Facetaco I'm just not sure that you've given any reason way you think we should lay off her other than the fact that we've already gotten our hits in and should now move on. I don't find that very convincing and I bet you don't either. She could have very easily left the limelight (no Reality TV show, no dancing with the stars, no bus tour). If she had just gone away, I think you would be right. It would be pointless of us to beat a dead horse. But she hasn't, has she. It was her choose to go on this national bus tour.
I'd be open to other reasons for why we should lay off her, if you have them.

This is not really on point but, I bought pop cycle plastic molds at Bed, Bath, and Beyond a few days ago and everyday since I've had raspberry lemonade popcycles after work! Seriously the best way to beat this horrid humid heat.

Ultimately, I think the lesson is that something can be both TRUE and CRUEL. They aren't mutually exclusive. It's a lesson I think we all learn as we mature. It takes wisdom and compassion to recognize how to present truth without cruelty.

Why is facetaco getting gruff for this? It doesn't seem to be an uncommon opinion but more importantly (for this sites purposes) its just an easy joke to make. We like jokes!
I think the issue was that the movie trailers didn't always have much commentary written about them. I'm sure you can simply use your discretion to decide what trailers are worth talking about, and what trailers should go in the weekly round-up. I guess it would just depend on what you had to say about them.
I would agree facetaco, but there are two groups: 1) people who are laughing at her 2) people who actually make her relevant because they show up to her events. Just because we all know she's benign and silly, doesn't mean the thousands who donate to her PAC do. Therefore why tell us to stop enjoying a laugh or discrediting her (she does make it enticingly easy), when she truly still does have lots of genuine support that isn't going to go away easy?
Also: someone who spreads fear (i.e. Death Panels) is pretty low and truly IS someone we should actively repudiate.
One more thing: I'm glad that there is a lot going on on Twitter and Chat, but I also wish Gabe would engage more in the comments here and not just on twitter. I think it would help focus everyone a bit. Keep us on our toes.
Bringing in a new distinctive voice is the best thing that could happen to VG right now. I'm glad you guys already did that. I like that I have to glance at the by-line. It makes Gabe's stuff better and I'm definitely enjoying getting to know Kelly. (You are doing great Kelly!)
The log in thing is truly a big issue. I try to glance at VG very quickly while at work. (It makes me feel less guilty) Therefore, I never take the extra time to log in to even up-vote some funny/insightful comment, let alone comment. I'd suggest fixing this first before even thinking about content changes.
Also, more just generally interesting stuff. Maybe videos that aren't only just funny, but also somewhat educational or just cool looking. I'm sure you can put your own VG twist on them.

It's not good. I read the first one and found that it was terribly boring and the end was completely unsatisfactory. I do admit reading it all the way through, I figured that if everyone loved the book, it must have a great conclusion. Instead I got crap, like a crime tv show season finale.
I'm sorry, but that was rude. And maybe he has made a personal decision that you don't agree with but you know what, I think he gets to make that choice. Maybe he's happy, maybe he's not. But he gets to decide about his lifestyle just like the rest of us.
The issue isn't that he's stayed with his wife and is "living a lie" as you all believe. The issue is that he's imposing his beliefs on others. I'd rather focus on the real problems. I didn't realize so many of you were that concerned if Ted Haggard was happy or not.
I guess I was just surprised by how much people thought he should be an out gay man as they define it, including Gabe himself. If he's using the word "cured" i certainly disagree with that. I guess his passion is leading a church and I'd rather have a church led by someone who has been extremely humbled than an egomaniac. Maybe he still is one though, cause reality tv? yuck. But, for others to decide that he IS gay and that he HAS to be out to be happy, is trying to control his sexuality and life in a manner I think we all would agree is wrong. I'm not a fan of this man at all. Just thinking about stuff.
Are you all upset that he's not a happy openly gay man now? Why can't he choose to keep his family together? Can't that be his and his wife's decision?
MONSTERS watch this show! though not many. Every monday night is The Bachelor Chat (mostly in my head) on tinychat. This is a tradition has been going on forever! and when i say forever I mean since last spring's season when we hung out at videogum.com/chat.
