Trent’s right. NIN and Soundgarden were two of the best bands of the 90′s but while Trent has retained his integrity, Cornell sold his cheap. Like Trent says it’s one thing to collaborate for artistic reasons and another thing to collaborate for purely commercial reasons. It disappoints me hugely that Cornell compromised his glory so lightly.

Let’s face it – Laim was an arsehole long before Oasis hit the charts – witness him starting a fight with the crowd in Newcastle in about 93 or so. The only real surprise is that Noel put up with him for so long.
As for the music – they’ve never made a good album but there are enough high points on the first couple to make them more than a foot note – and that has been enough for plenty of other acts to cement their place in history. But they have managed to lift their sound above the inevitable Status Quo comparisons for more than 13 years so – really – what is the story here?
