Honestly, I like it more than anything they've done since Hissing Fauna. And everything before Hissing Fauna. Just everything they've done that isn't Hissing Fauna. That could have been expressed in less words.

You have to have a limit, though. If licensing your song out for a product you have no quarrels with is going to keep your band running, I would call it a necessary evil. But to license your songs to whoever asks without taking into account the product, that's just an irresponsible use of your craft. Evidently your song is entirely disposable in your eyes.
So I think there's a difference between hearing Of Montreal in a harmless, kitschy steakhouse commercial and hearing a Kurt Vile song in a commercial for a bank partially responsible for a world-wide economic collapse.

@Ignition remix - If you think atheists are not an oppressed minority, I would like you to visit the south sometime. I've received literal death threats to my face for my lack of religion. I think "threatening to make dead" is a form of "oppressing." I've since migrated to more northern regions of the world, but the oppression is still there and often just as prevalent.
And R2D2, I wouldn't agree necessarily that religion ON ITS OWN obscures rational discussion, but I would argue that faith does. Faith as a virtue, at least. If you have faith, you're trusting in something despite any rational argument. Like, having faith in a loved one being there for you is necessary in a relationship, and for some people faith that there is life after death helps cope with a fear of death. It brings peace to a lot of people. But it's not a virtue. Skepticism is a virtue. Skepticism is a tool that can and will prevent you from being fucked over. Faith is taking a shot in the dark. And rational discussion is not based on just taking a chance.
So I go to acting school (boo! ~you guys) and... Honestly, if Andrew Garfield DIDN'T at least go as far as studying the movement of a spider, he would get low marks in my movement class and my teacher would call him lazy and the whole class would shun him forever.
I'm being only SLIGHTLY facetious here. More so truthful, it's about 60% truthful and 40% sarcastic. More often than not when Gabe posts about an actor in an interview (excluding the genuinely indulgent Gweneth ones) it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth, like because something sounds goofy and foreign in the non-put-on-costumes-and-play-make-believe world most of the readers here inhabit that it needs to be expanded upon and mocked. I have a good amount of fun pointing out the rampant pretension in my chosen profession a lot of the time, but this is a man studying how spiders move because he's PLAYING A SPIDER-MAN. That's actually one of the more logical things I've heard. Hell, Daniel Day-Lewis moves out to the woods and builds a cabin when the role calls for it.
