I like the song. It keeps with the same sound as the first album. As for her as Des Barres, I think Jenny Lewis would be better for the role just because she looks more like her when she was younger.
It was sobfest 2010 in my dorm room the last 15 minutes. Also, Free Bird at the end was genius and hilariously poetic, what an incredible way to go out, Coco.
It's funny to see him do all those hand gestures he probably doesn't know the meanings of. And those video girls: WOOF, they probably still use their hands to tell you how old they are. Also, knowing the lyrics really adds no meaning to the song, all he says is "but your hand (just one) in the air, I'm the cutest boy, I'm the smallest boy, I'm the sweetest boy."
I know right! I've been a long time reader and have had an account for a while but hardly ever commented for the same reasons as you, but this thread is just so great it's taken me to :)-town!
I'm a fan of Kings of Leon, I bought this last album hoping to love it as much as their last couple but my feelings for it are lukewarm at best. The thing about it, for me anyways, is that it doesn't have that sort of raw sounding ass-kicking southern rock feel to it. When you hear those albums you know where they are from and it just sounds more true to them, Only by the Night just sounds way to clean and over-produced. I realize that bands shouldn't put out the same album over and over again, I wasn't expecting Aha Shake Heartbreak II, but I don't get as much soul or passion in this album and that's the worst part.
Oh and it really doesn't bother me that they are really popular now, that doesn't play a part in this.
I don't wanna like it, really I don't, they are horrible musicians an insult to real ones who are constantly working to improve their craft and aren't in a band simply because it's cool there is nothing about them I should like...but damn I somehow like it.
No, I don't think it was the premise of the joke, I think you just retroactively made it that way.
Anyways....I like the song and I like the band, so what if they aren't up there with "real" instruments it's good music!
You know that feeling you get when you are embarrassed for someone else and you get goosebumps?
The look like the annoying drama majors in my english class who really enjoy show music 20 years from now.
ugh
