The way they're talking on social media has me thinking it's actually just a one-off of these five tracks and not an album. I'll take it either way. These tracks are a lot of fun.
Preemptively pouring one out for Dear Tommy.
Love that this project is bringing out Kevin Shields' more ambient likings (which were likely inspired by Eno among other people).
It's great to know the band dips into "It's Never Been Like That" with some real purpose. You hit the nail right on the head when you called it criminally ignored. That statement rings true for me so much as I can't count how many times I'd throw it on in a group of friends and wait for someone to ask what it was so I could point them in the direction of where to buy it.
Goo. Never thought i'd say that a Beck record was an insult to Beck but here we are.
The Horrors have been one of my favorite bands for a very long time and, not surprisingly, V sucked me right back into their catalogue. I've tried for years to pick a favorite Horrors record and fail to come up with a definitive answer every time. Though it wasn't mentioned in the article, I think there's something to be said for "Gathering" and it's delivery both in sequence and vocal cadence. Faris continues to surprise me with his voice with every record. Can't wait to see them live again. If you get a chance to catch a show, don't be afraid to strike up conversation with Rhys or Faris. They are lovely people.
Definitely. It's a snarling, hulking, hell beast of a first offering. There's a video of them playing their rendition of "Jack The Ripper" in ultragrrrl's apartment that is incredible.
Waiting patiently for "Call The Police" haters to go bonkers.
All GIFs aside, I enjoyed this much more than the first time I heard "Entertainment". This feels like a different Phoenix than I'm used to which is something I'll figure out the more I listen to "J-Boy". Using the word "different" to describe it feels kind of weak, but I think Thomas Mars' vocal delivery on the track definitely warrants it.

This is the moment. Save us, Daft Punk.
That Tunde collab has most definitely piqued my interest.

So great to see The Veils getting a head of steam with this record!

Easily their best record and I really appreciate you writing this as well as the way it was written. I picked this album up about a month after it came out before I went to be a camp counselor at a youth camp out in the middle of nowhere and it was the soundtrack to my summer. I could never pick out a single track to champion as my favorite, i'd just put it on and let it roll. In an age of singles that feels like something special, further cementing in my mind what a genuine record this is.

The feeling I get when even AIR doesn't appreciate the criminally underrated Love 2: http://gph.is/1x6TbPM

Except with a working .gif please send me to downvote hell.
Me when RJ pointed out to me that AIR was on the lineup: http://rs1161.pbsrc.com/albums/q514/Hysmofyteligok/Gifs%20and%20sparkly%20stuff/tumblr_m09idi1S6S1qftv7q.gif~c200
Interesting observation: RTJ playing two years in a row on the same day (Saturday).
Yeah, yeah, yeah! yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah! Yeah! Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah!
I'm really excited to see what The Last Shadow Puppets are going to bring. I, personally, thought their first record was tons of fun and criminally overlooked and with Alex Turner getting only more grimy and sinister we could be in for a real treat. I consider "The Age of the Understatement" James Bond, and i'd hope "TLSP2" would be a Bond villain. Miles Kane and Alex Turner have had a brilliant friendship over the years and i'd imagine it carries over to live performance very well.

Lots of shitty apartment music video shots. Well played.
Does he talk about gold teeth, french braids, ice, or being that pretty mother fucker? Because if not, i'm out.
