Justin said it last night, but I feel it does need to be reiterated. No BS! Brass Band were All-Stars. Hearing them play Come On Feel the Illinoise with Suf was ethereal. They played with tons of bands and played the songs like they knew them by heart and had been playing them since they were written. Especially for the performers at this festival, having the group was an incredible asset. I spoke to one of their trombonists last Wednesday, and it sounded to me like he didn't even know then what their role was at the festival. Amazed how well they pulled it off.
Also, I'd never heard Lizzo's music before, but her show late Friday was incredible. Check her out!
Who is paying doing the refunding in these situations? From my, albeit limited, experience in booking bands - if the venues are giving the money back to ticketholders, I feel like this is pretty unfair to the bookers. It is my understanding that venues contract artists for a certain amount of money and then make money off of the ticket sales. If that's the case, and the performer does the show in bad health, then it really shouldn't be the venue's responsibility to make amends.
I'm surprised Motion Picture Soundtrack didn't show up at all. I feel like it's such a deeply moving track that it would have struck a chord (ha) with at least one of these many musicians.
While I understand where you're coming from (Red Eyes is an AMAZING song), I don't believe that gives anyone the right to ruin the home stretch of the poll for everyone.
Hey everyone! It's here - your Reader Nominated Song of the Summer: Steal My Sunsine by Len!
Just kidding, although a surprising amount of you voted for it. Your real Reader Nominated Song of the Summer is: Red Eyes by The War on Drugs
Here's how the voting broke down among the top 5:
Red Eyes - 42
Can't Do Without You - 37
Talking Backwards - 36
Seasons (Waiting On You) - 35
Let Her Go - 30
Unfortunately, I'm unable to post any of the statistics or pie charts. This is because (what I assume to be) a single Stereogum user compromised the poll by voting over 50 times for the same song: Red Eyes.

Seriously, what the hell dude? Anyway, the results I posted here were the pre-spam-vote results, and I apologize to those who weren't able to vote before that point in time. (If you want a more detailed explanation on how this happened, check the comments of the most recent Best Comments of the Week post.)
Another (not so uplifting) update on the Reader Nominated Poll:
I realized early on in the voting that it was possible for a person to vote for a song more than once. However, I was unable to find any way to restrict the ability of a person to vote more than once. No joke, I did a lot of research. It's really impossible. In my experience, Stereogum users have been (with a few small exceptions) mature and (mostly) responsible, so I figured you all would be able to vote in a manner that didn't compromise the poll, such as not voting for Red Eyes 50 times per se...
I am sorry to say that this is not the case, and someone did, in fact, vote for Red Eyes more than 50 times. Since I have no way of accessing and deleting these votes, voting for the Reader Nominated poll has now officially closed. My apologies to those who voted within the past few hours, and to those who didn't get the chance to vote.
Please note: the Pre-Red-Eyes-Spam-Vote results will STILL be announced in the 'gum Song of the Summer Announcement post.
Hi all! An update on the Reader Nominated poll:
So far, 233 have voted, and more votes are still coming in! (In an effort not to spoil the big reveal, I'm going to have to stay pretty vague here.) What I can say is that it is a very close race, and that there have been multiple lead changes between multiple songs.
Stay tuned!
If you'd like to vote from those options, I created a poll over on Google for that purpose.

Hey everyone!
I made a poll that has the top 10 comments from the nomination page as options! Here it is:

If enough people vote, I'll post the "Revised Readers' Choice" Song of the Summer 2014 to either this week's or next week's "Best Comments of the Week" page.
Please keep in mind that this is the first time I've made a poll, so if you notice any issues, please let me know!
Not sure if you're talking about why it's the lady's hind end, or if you mean why the alternative album cover is on her backside.. Either way, the story behind it is the original album cover, the nude bottom, was used in Europe, but the band decided to switch over to the other design for the American market. That's the design with subatomic particle tracks.
I noticed it the first time I heard it. I have a feeling that he felt he could do more with the idea, so he implemented the melody into Chicago and voila: a masterpiece is born.
I loved the band's debut but I really wish they would try a little harder on the musical aspect of their stuff. I realize that the general idea behind their first album was that it was simplistic, yet complicated, but it just seems like they're simplifying it further.
Not to rain on your parade.. But the album cover is essentially a negative of their first album cover, except the x is now filled with the colors from that video above.
