I am a pretty big player within the Gwyneth Paltrow/Don Draper fandom.

Wasn't the premise of Google: The Movie a plot on Friends? Best bit of that trailer is when a young guy manages to trick the old guys by referencing a hip and up-to-date comic book character.... who was invented before either of them were born. And would almost definitely have figured in to their own childhoods.

McConaughey picks out a leopard print tuxedo. "This," he says, putting it back in his wardrobe, "this is what I design."

Yeah, his life is ridiculous. He's just a human-shaped pile of impressive facts and talents. His Opium-addicted artist/aristocrat family were also the inspiration for Fellini to create La Dolce Vita. But then Sudeikis' uncle is Norm, so....

Olivia Wilde's ex-husband is possibly the coolest guy in the world, so I cannot give this union my blessing. I'm so sorry to everyone involved.

Enlightened is the best show on tv right now, by a long shot. Enlightened deserves all of the press that Girls gets instead, only positive.

Agreed on all points, MSCL totally set the standard. If the show had been wholly focused on the kids, it still would have been fantastic. I mean, that's already the primary reason it was so good. I think the parents were probably given storylines in the show mainly so that the whole family could watch at home and each have something to relate to and maybe learn a little about one another. There's also a line in episode four or so where they talk about how important it is for Angela to take her father off of his pedestal finally, so maybe there's something in the idea of humanizing parents in a show aimed at children. But that's not necessarily something age-appropriate viewers are actually going to be interested in. I definitely wasn't.

Interesting question. I'm definitely more into the parents' stories now than I was the first time I watched it, because they do round out the narrative and it is interesting to me to see how their behavior sort of shapes Angela and her development (same for Rayanne's free spirit mother and her affect on Rayanne's attitude.) On the other hand, since I'm kind of watching it out of a weird nostalgia/why-wasn't-I-a-better-teenager feeling (which I guess is somewhat close to actually being that age and wanting to find a voice on television) I'm also still definitely invested in the kids' storylines more than anything else so I could easily get behind a cut of the show that was all teenz all the time.

Yes I did! You mentioned it on one of these Day posts a few weeks ago so I went and found and requested it. I'm so happy to be part of such an exclusive club! Soon many more people are going to get to read and love it too and that's an amazing thing. The book's wonderful, congratulations!

Hi Steph! I'm glad you posted here because I've wanted to tell you for a little while that I was lucky enough to be allowed to read a galley proof of your book recently, because I am a Very Important Media Professional™, and it's so, so good. I wolfed it down in about two obsessive sittings and I honestly really enjoyed it. I'm going to be buying ten copies when it's released and giving them to all my friends (with eight to spare!) All Monsters should do the same too.

I'm actually watching My So-Called Life this very second because I'm very adult & well-adjusted & have zero lingering regrets about the way I spent my own teenage years and now I turn on my laptop and now here's an article about Jordan GD Catalano on my screen apparently wanting me to make my entire life about him. I half-expected this from Leto, Kelly, but I never expected it from you.

Mexican Blake Lively looks exactly like American Blake Lively. Are we sure it's not actually Blake Lively? I know the rumours that she stopped dating Weinstein, but her career can't have suffered so badly from it that she has to reprise her one big role in a foreign language adaptation... can it?? http://i45.tinypic.com/34y8zep.png

I feel exactly the same about her. She's likeable and talented, but she's never really done a project I can single out as being a particularly worthwhile thing to watch her in. I had to look up what the name of the phone movie I saw her in was and her page does seem to suggest she's been working steadily, but again, mostly things to be avoided which explains why I didn't already know. Her ex-band is very good. If you take away nothing else from this in-depth analysis of her career, you should give them a listen. Then maybe her sacrifices will all have been worth it.

1) Shannyn Sossamon is getting film roles again? This is great news. She's great. She quit music to focus on her acting career and then suddenly her band got popular and the last thing I saw her act in was One Missed Call, that terrible remake of a Japanese film about scary murder phone calls. Speeeaaakkiiing offff (great segue.) 2) Ahaha, The Call is produced by WWE Films. Somehow that seems so perfect. But the murderer doesn't seem to be played by Stone Cold Steve Austin? What gives?

It was great! I remember it was negatively compared to the first Hangover at the time, but HTTM deserved all the praise that that movie got instead. The similarities of them being irresponsible man-children on an R-rated vacation ended the moment Time Machine showed there were actual consequences to their actions (which, duh, it's a time travel comedy, that would have been very hard to avoid.) Also, funny. Also, Lizzy Caplan.
