she just loves covering people that should never be covered. next up, leonard cohen.
amazing as usual. right on.
Harmless Lover’s Discourse reminds me of their version of a Bruce Springsteen Streets of Philadelphia-esque ballad.
killer stuff.
I know him, and he does.
Doesn’t even hold a candle to Since U Been Gone, probably my favourite radio pop tune in the past 5 years or so.
Bitching is what the internet does best.
I enjoyed the song once, thanks Stereogum.
Has the potential to go extremely each way. Let’s just hope the cast and production take it the right way. Makes sense to me though – poppy campy songs, sentimental, limited sets, a good recipe.
Enjoy this song more than the average Vampire Weekend track.
I think people are so plus or minus this band because they got so popular so quickly, it’s the (somewhat) new p4k effect.
The title of this movie enrages me, sounds like “customer focused music solutions” (props radiohead).
No hook, whatsoever. I wanted a hit you in the chest When You Were Young caliber song. I like the new direction, Stuart Price did a pretty decent job with production (although missing some big full bass tones) and Brandon’s voice sounds good. But there is absolutely NO song there.
Anyone surprised they chose this as their follow up single to White Winter Hymnal? I was praying for a really cool video for “Blue Ridge Mountains”. Something that doesn’t scream barnyard animals and blatant Americana, but maybe they need to push their identity since it’s their first big LP.
agree, patrick watson was definitely a surprise. I enjoyed Andorra, but one band that continues to get overlooked on the international stage is Wintersleep. They have written three beautiful records and get no press from American media. I don’t know if they even made the shortlist. I can understand they don’t have the “artistic merit” of Mr. Snaith, but awesome rock songs should count for something.

I definitely appreciate the idea behind the track, but the song fell a bit flat for me. Amazing production as always, but the song wasn’t there.
