This synchs up with Black Orpheus so incredibly well. It's like the Dark Side/Wizard of Oz myth except it actually works. Just a few: - Check out Here Comes The Night Time during the dance sequence. - The fade out of the last track as he falls to his death, and the little kids playing over the ambient outro. It's amazing.
Just fixed it. Don't apologize for being "that guy," you're very helpful for pointing that out. Thank you!
Thanks for pointing that out! We corrected it.
Agreed about all of those! Pharmakon came out of nowhere for me in the beginning of this year, and her album basically reminded me why I loved noise so much to begin with. Within that little niche of music it's really a landmark album.
Yeah it was definitely "Still Life," for the opening. It's a hard show to put together a set list for exactly, but that was one of the clearer song-based moments.
You're preaching to the choir man! Actually Ok Computer was nominated, but lost. Kid A never got one.
Thank you for the golf clap! Yeah, the Croatia shoot location threw me for a loop, honestly I think it will be similar to the Coldplay cameo. I mean it has to be right? It would be too weird to give the band some sort of a winking "here's Sigur Ros" type-cameo. Also I'd get into a discussion about who Coldhands actually is...but spoilers!
Yeah it really is. And the best part is he's still holding out on releasing the best tracks (in my opinion) on the album. That said Zebra is definitely one of the best.
Stuck on a broken down train right now. Claire, if Kanye steals the mic I'm just gonna break into bar car and raid everything.
Thanks for catching that! It's been fixed now.
Thanks for commenting, and you're definitely correct about their early 90s popularity. I would agree with you that Reality is arguably their most popular album, but I guess my point was that while the 80s showed a rise in their popularity, their 90s work is generally looked at as a decline.
Thanks for commenting. Glad you like the Mediafired album, that was one of my favorite records from 2012! I actually wrote about that last year for TMT's end of the year list. If you dug a track like "Pixies," I'd really recommend listening to Empire Building it takes in a lot of influence from Mediafired, I.C./Wakesleep, and Vektroid. Hit Vibes is excellent, but Empire is close to being the best purely vaporwave album this year.
Don't worry, I was making a joke with the dance-punk line!
Grimes was definitely on "Bigfoot," my mistake. Thanks for catching that David! Ben - Yeah, Monday was especially heavy on the problems and the rain didn't help either.
Seriously!? The Glow Pt. 2, and now this? This Column should just be renamed "Sam Hockley-Smith Writes About My Favorite Albums Of All Time."
Thanks for letting me know! My french teacher must be rolling over in her grave...
