wow. refused, at the drive-in, buzzcocks, atari teenage riot. some serious action there. throw in some pulp, mazzy star, and gsy!be. it’s the land of bands you never thought we play together again.
I didn’t give the album much of a listen as the tracks progressively sounded more metallic…but I must say “Iced Honey” seems not bad live. Surprisingly they fucked up the seemingly difficult to screw up “White Light/White Heat”. I don’t understand why Hetfield has unnecessary backup vocals on the album, but yet doesn’t do the classic backup vocals on wl/wh. It was his time to shine! Take out his backup vocals on the album and the songs start to sound a lot better.
Also, Arcade Fire winning the grammy for album of the year renews my faith in humanity.
Record of the Year is not to be confused with Song of the Year or Album of the Year:
Record of the Year is awarded for a single or for one track from an album. This award goes to the performing artist, the producer, recording engineer, and/or mixer for that song. In this sense, “record” means a recording of one song, not the composition or an album of songs. Often, the nominees and winners of this song represent the most successful songs of the year.
Song of the Year is also awarded for a single or individual track, but the recipient of this award is the songwriter who actually created the song in the first place. Thus, “song” in this context means the song as written, not its recording.
Album of the Year is awarded for a whole album, and the award is presented to the artist, producer, recording engineer, and mastering engineer for that album. So, in this context, “album” means a recorded collection of songs (a multi-track LP, CD, or download package), not the individual songs or their compositions.
i saw blur at coachella for the thinktank era, sadly just after graham left.
i saw ariel pink in 2008 at hailey’s. amazing show, the sound was dead on…then around the 30 min mark, at the end of a song, entire band walks off stage, into the crowd and disappears…no encore. The next year at hailey’s they played a proper set, after Vivian girls opened. gotta keep the fans guessing.
lykke li covered “knocked up” on her 2009 us tour
Isn’t that one time mini-solo the riff from Rilo Kiley’s “Moneymaker”?
pavement > modest mouse
also, why are 3 guitars and a pedal steel needed for this song? maybe 1 marr = 2 non marr gtrs?
