Fantastic
In Rainbows was released in late 2007 people.
That’s why it’s not on this list.
FYI
WOW! I wish you could download these songs. They sound great.
I never knew how the Uglysuit would sound as a stripped down folksy act, but they really sound fantastic. Whoever the female vocalist is has a great voice that complimented the lead singer’s very well.
Awesome Band!!!
My favorite album of the year for sure.
This is my favorite album of the year. It is still in rotation and I got it several months back. It’s great from start to finish.
I love the single “Chicago”, but I must admit it is my least favorite track on the record. There are many tracks that stand out much more to me, but I guess they couldn’t be singles because they are too long. “…And we Became Sunshine”, and “Everyone Now has A Smile” are my 2 favorite tracks and they both clock in at over 7 minutes. Both take you on a journey that you never want to end.
I don’t know why this posted 3 times. oh well…
The Uglysuit gets my vote. Those guys blew me away. You gotta go check them out if you ever get the chance. Awesome!!!
Ratatat was pretty bad ass too.
I have to disagree. I’ve seen Of Montreal twice and both times he acted like a total pre-madonna. He had to change clothes like 3 times so everyone was left waiting for the show to go on….why? And the second time I saw them one of his pedals wasn’t working properly so he pouted a bit and then picked it up and chunked it off the stage and was bitching about it like a little girl.
Now Monotonix puts on a hell of a live show, but I could care less to ever hear their music again. It’s not all about the live show, the music has to be something worth while as well.
Just an opinion though.
Agreed,
I saw LCD Soundsystem and Arcade fire at a festival in europe last year and LCD Soundsystem blew my mind. Arcade Fire was a little lack-luster on the other hand.
Both great bands though.
The Uglysuit!! I definitely agree!!! The Uglysuit is my favorite album of the year, but I don’t think many people have had the chance to check them out. Hopefully next year they’ll release another stellar album and it will get a bit more (well deserved) attention. Their self-titled debut has been one of the strongest I’ve ever heard. I can listen to it from start to finish and love every minute of it. Great!!!
This isn’t all that bad of a list, but the top 10 has several that I disagree with, Bon Iver, Of Montreal, The Hold Steady, and Girl Talk, in my opinion are not top 10 quality.
Dr. Dog and Blitzen Trapper should be higher. Ratatat “LP3″, and The Sea and Cake “Car Alarm” should be on the list.
Biggest disappointments of the year for me are My Morning Jacket- “Evil Urges”-painfully disappointing. Of Montreal- “Skeletal lamping”. Death Cab for Cutie- “Narrow Stairs”. All shit from bands that I love!

Man I love this song on their record, but this is almost just as good.
Very Nice!
