Less Bowie, more Lennon. Interesting.
Don’t mention the war!
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE/GRIZZLYBEAR/DIRTY PROJECTORS > GRAMMYS
I’ve never understood why Oasis is so goddamn easy to hate. It’s certainly a share of people who love them, but I think the group who seriously and wholeheartedly HATE them strangely enough is bigger. I have always liked Oasis, and even though I understand why people don’t, I find the amount and intensity of the messages they pour out on the web pretty extraordinary. It’s only rock’n'roll, nothing more and nothing less. Why do their music make grown people act like clowns on the internet?
As for the breakup of the band, I really don’t care. I find the things I like about Oasis in their first three or four albums. And even though Dig Out Your Soul is ok, it’s hardly relevant. I think a Noel solo album (and even a similar release by Liam) would be far more interesting. I’m grateful for the good times, but it was probably a good idea to call it a day before the end of this decade.
Nice. Now the Stereogum readers and posters will have THREE albums to choose from when the 2009 list is compiled.
Have ever another band than Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective or Dirty Projectors been mentioned in these comments?
Which of the biggest europeans festivals have Wavves headlined?
Way better than Sky Blue Sky, but nowhere near Being There, Summerteeth or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Wilco (The Song) is great, though.
Hell, Joanna Newsom could make -me- buy, and even wear, a bra.
