As someone who was basically too young to follow or know about any of this blog bullshit as it was going on and was introduced to CYHSY later, devoid of any context or narrative, I think it's a classic album. For whatever that's worth. I also like Some Loud Thunder, although it's not nearly as good obv.
I don't think the two are related. As miss_merboy says, this collab has already been in the can for a while. Like, here's video of Le1f performing it live over a year ago.
Well, I've seen midcity called a mixtape, and various places (including their official Bandcamp) billed CLPPNG as their debut album proper. But yeah, I guess you're right. Either way, the "Intro" from midcity is still maybe my favorite clipping. track.
He pled no contest to supplying the ecstasy, but he was cleared of the sexual battery charges due to a lack of evidence.
My wording was a little misleading though -- he didn't actually admit to slipping the ecstasy into her drink without her knowledge, just supplying her with it. I've edited to reflect that better.
One of my favorite albums of all time, and one of the first albums that I truly loved. My hip older cousin gave me a CD copy as a part of my musical education when I was first starting to get into music seriously (yeah, I know, I'm super young), and it just blew me away. I probably don't return to it as often as I should / it deserves, but every time I do, it blows me away all over again.
There's so much great wordplay and so many eminently quotable lines, but for some reason Finn's hilariously matter-of-fact retelling of the Adam and Eve story always stuck with me:
"I guess I heard about original sin
I heard the dude blamed the chick
I heard the chick blamed the snake
And I heard they were naked when they got busted
And I heard things ain't been the same since"
From what I understand, there wasn't really a single moderator in duels. Each party involved would name a representative called a "second," and the two seconds together were supposed to make sure that the rules were followed and everything was fair.
Not sure why I know so much about such a stupid thing.
