That was like when your mom and dad fight and dad makes mom look like she doesn't know what she's talking about and then mom gets frustrated but she just accepts it because "let's not fight in front of the kids!"...
Thank you for getting my play on words :) It's the little things in life...
This is where it gets tricky. Which is the lesser of two evils? Being completely open about their beliefs and owning up to the fact that they give money to these anti-gay organizations or being secretive about it and then issuing fake apologies when busted? Chik-Fil-A has been pretty open about their religious beliefs since the day they opened their doors. Are we really that surprised that they give to these anti-gay / pro family organizations? They are closed on Sundays for Christ's sake! Any company willing to give up a whole day of profits in order to worship the Lord is most likely going to take this stance. I am more offended by the use of the Bible (yet again) to dismiss their disapproval of something. At this point, the Bible argument is tired. We all know that there is not one person on this planet that follows that thing 100%. They'd be in jail. I would have been less bothered had he stated that his religious beliefs don't approve of homosexuality and as a human being living in America he has every right to believe that. As a human being in America (gay or not), I have the right not to visit his establishment because I don't agree with their views. I kinda wish all companies were more honest about this stuff. You gotta admit that this guy has some balls. And if there's one thing that gay guys like myself love...it's balls.
my friend dragged me to "star watch" at the vanity fair oscar party the year this film won the oscar. we saw thora birch walking towards the party. all the fans were screaming her name to get a picture. i yelled "i loved you in monkey trouble!"...she turned around and gave me a dirty look. it was awesome.
also...chriskc80...thanks for being open minded and taking into consideration that we are making comments on a blog that is generally full of sarcasm. although i appreciate caitlin's attempt at defending the LGBT community, i also find it highly annoying. Especially the following quote from her reply..."Also it was probably decided that it was an offensive term by the transgendered people that are often called it in a derogatory way, possibly while they are being beat up or spit on for being transgendered." I have been a victim of this kind of behavior, yet I don't get offended by the word "fag". Also, your generalization that it would be offensive because transgendER people get "beat up" is ridiculous. Not every transgender person gets treated badly in life and not every transgender person cares about whether or not the word "tranny" is offensive. GLAAD doesn't speak for everyone.
I can't believe the thread that has started off of my stupid joke. I am a gay man and have never heard that the word "tranny" is super offensive. I know a couple of transgendered people and they use the word often (that doesn't make me an expert though). I made the second comment because I was surprised at how quickly it was down voted. I forget sometimes that sarcasm doesn't always translate well into text. The original comment was poking fun at the video in two ways... the stereotypical dudes that would enjoy this video would most likely use the word tranny in a negative manner and would most likely find the girls not that hot. I guess maybe it would have been better received had I announced in the original comment that I was a gay man and that I was making a joke.
down votes? really? either you people are transexual haters and appalled by the fact that i would find her/him attractive or you think i'm making fun of transexuals. the girls in that video were wannabe video girls and that tranny wasn't even a real tranny. it was one of their "bros" in drag. stop being so sensitive. on the off chance that you just plain think it wasn't funny...well, i can see that... lol
that tranny was hotter than any of the chicks in that video...

but isn't he denying his homosexuality based on the fact that god is telling him it's wrong? he most likely still feels emotionally and physically attracted to men, but is fighting those instincts because his religion is telling him to do so. we poke fun at his effeminate behavior, but would still question his message even if he grew a beard and went to nascar events (so gay!). also, he's not embracing his straight identity in order to find out who he really is. he's made it very clear that he is straight now and that homosexuality is a sin. i appreciate that you are friends with gay people and you definitely have more insight than homophobic christians, but it's hard to really understand what it's like to process those emotions. i would be less critical of him if his video was based on his exploration to find out who he really is, rather than who he has been convinced (by god) that he is. telling someone they are gay or straight doesn't really work. i have written ryan reynolds numerous times to tell him that he's gay and he still hasn't called me :(
