Guys, its no coincidence why Purity Ring released "Fineshrine" on the day of the summer solstice. Put 'em on that list.
Frank Ocean is one of the few artists I admire that I hope gets alot of mainstream buzz. He's exactly what popular R&B needs and has needed for a couple of years now. It might be hard to get spins with a 10 minute song (I"m sure a radio edit's on the way), but I feel like he's one of those musicians like Andre, that he's so talented that whatever he does will appeal to a big audience.

I can't be the only one who saw picture/read headline and lol'd
I'm not even sure why I get into rap conversations anymore. I <3 OF
I don't know how you feel about it, as a non-closet lil wayne fan, but I think 'Ghoulish' was a bad move for him. Wayne's always been style over substance (except for Georgia Bush) and those rappers usually don't come out on top of a beef (and thus don't beef in general). Jay/Nas is a good example of this. The more obvious reason that he shouldn't have said it is that G.O.O.D. would straight run train on YMCMB.
And one for OK Computer. The credits for that one will be "Exit Music (For a Game)
Animal Collective is the musical equivalent of Adderall to my ADHD.
It kinda pissed me off today that, as an avid rap fan and rap follower on twitter, only a small portion of rappers I follow tweeted about this. I'll wait until tomorrow because I know some artists don't tweet sporadically (which I respect), but for those who do, I'll lose respect if I don't see a gesture towards MCA. I agree with Mike_ that El-P's was the best message, but I really liked what Earl Sweatshirt said because he's not one to give a fuck. That was refreshing. RIP MCA
Goddamn, at least Michael_'s bottom-five comment sweep was entertaining. This is just a pathetic jibe from an even more pathetic human being.
I think you tried a bit too hard but I won't downvote because that was an outside-the-box reference. Well played!
I honestly think I might rather attend Sunday if I could go and had to choose just one. Disappointed I can't, but at least I get to see Beach Howse this weekend. Shouldn't be a huge crowd because Charleston has a shitty taste in music, so I'm feeling like I can snag a spot at the front near <3 Vicky <3
Could be wrong but I thought the line-up went like this: Summer Camp, May 25-27, Chillicothe IL Shrooms Heroin PCP Molly DMT LSD Hash and moar....
This might sound pedantic but I feel like Wilco and the Flaming Lips should be on the second line of Hangout Fest instead of The String Cheese Incident (performing two sets).
Not gonna lie, I'm on a 48 hour bender right now and read "Sister" instead of "Shadow" and thought, "hey they're actually giving one of the 3 guys the photo, and I'm really diggin that guy's Ponyboy swag". While I'm disappointed that it's not a guy from Twin Sister trying to emulate a character from The Outsiders, I'm glad I stumbled across the song. Love some 80's era synth-ballads.
I'll admit that my Ipod is pretty devoid of 80s music other than GNR and the fun-sounding new-wave songs like "Take On Me" (I like to party), but I've always had a hard time getting into Britpop and similar sounds the UK produced during that decade, save from teh Cure. It's odd that I'm into modern bands who have those influences like Smith Westerns, etc. I'm even a big fan of Johnny Marr's jangly guitar work but am still not in love with the Smiths, I don't know if its Morrisey's voice or what. But real talk, the reason I haven't gotten into that stuff might just be because from a young age this notion was implanted in my mind that all English rock from that period sounded like Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping". Probably that
Yeah this is arpeggiated bliss *pretends hearing for first time*
Also missing the most anticipated record purchase for spring/summer 2012: Joe Howse finally getting his patient/noble hands on "Bloom"
Interesting. I knew they made hulk hands but not hulk feet #YOLO
Them swiping at low-hanging fruit like Nickelback dropped them harder than...well, you know where i'm going with this.
Mind as well just be honest and devote one big buzz chart to Skrillex that breaks down the specific attributes of him/his music that garner the most "buzz"
But really, has anyone called out Jimmy yet for basically rapping over the beat for "Cat Daddy"?
I feel like this is turning into a Good Guy Greg quote-check. But still hilarious
I'm thinking it'll take me about 6 listens too before i'm enamored completely. Agree with Le on the Grammy assessment though. I'm no music snob (I listened to Flockaveli more than any album last year and own every Dave Matthews album) but if an awards show nominates bruno mars for album of the year then I become uninterested with it. As if Adam Levine singing Beach Boys wasn't a big enough kick to the balls.
Just did my routine listen-without-stopping that I always do for highly-anticipated albums. I like to reserve feedback and give it 3 or 4 or 8 more listens because, while some albums are initially impacting, some impress and grow on you before the resplendent qualities are fully realized. While I can't say that this is the "album to beat" or anything (mostly because music isn't a sport or fight), I will say that I don't see how another song this year can accomplish what "Myth" does. The year is still young though.
Can you introduce me to Jeremy Lin?
This show alone might have fucked up the sleeping habits of other up-and-coming rappers

Wow, it's been 2 hours and no rubberjohnny??? You'd think he would've poked his hot topic haircut in here already considering this is arguably the greatest thing the group has done collectively. I was really looking forward to hearing about how this surpasses other legendary team efforts like "Triumph". Guess I'll just listen to Bastard while I wait...
