Find Me On:
best record is EP. it’s short and catchy.
i was skeptical – but this is awesome!
what happened to Exquire? he was so promising.
really solid record, with great songwriting, amazing vocal performance and KILLER bass lines (my man on the 4 strings should get more props).
Favorite record of the year so far.
5 mics indeed – my man is the most talented man in music!
it seems like people are really not feeling Cocaine Pinata. Maybe it has to do with too high expectations or maybe people really don’t care about the sample-delic sounds of Madlib anymore.
I listened to the record once and was blown away by the density of the production and Freddie Gibbs unflappable flow. My only complaint about it is there may be a few too many unnecessary cameos.
It may not be the gangsta rap Madvilliany that i thought it would be, but it’s still great.
I definitely prefer it to YG and War On Drugs.
On the fence with this one. I think this is a very well crafted album, but I never thought that the sound of Don Henley, Sting, Dire Straits,80s-Dylan and Richard Marx would become fashionable. I’m a HUGE Kurt Vile fan- and I get that he’s coming from similar influences, but his take on it is a little hipper.
I think the War on Drugs sound is veering little too close to the “cheesy” AOR 80s sound that i cant seem to shake.
Anyone else feel the same way?
is it me – or is there something strange about these guys always strategically placing black men in their press shots when they are not in fact that?
best producer on the mic since Roc Marciano! As a matter of fact, he’s like a midwest version of Roc.
