Ok, Liz had 2 really amazing records to start her career, BUT something happened in the mid-90′s. First it was a more polished production, then a vocoder (auto tune)! And for some reason she’s been marketed as some kind of “Cher” for the aging Alt. generation. Maybe its label pressure to be the next big cross over. Either way, Liz lost her way a long time ago and tho part of me wants her back, the new shit is a feeble attempt at recapturing her Rough Trade days. Sorry Liz! No biscuit!
Hate to say this about a band I admire BUT, keep digging! This is pretty weak and the slick production does even more to point out the song’s short comings. I’m listening to “Watery Hands” now to purge this from my head. This sounds more like that Drake guy from Disney Channels “Drake & Josh” sit-com than the Superchunk I know. Sorry guys!
OK Stereogum! WTF! You guys are better than this, even if it is a slow news day. U2 has had their day and I give them the respect they deserve for some good records but now LEAVE US ALONE. No more!
