NO THANK YOU SIR! The idea of saying 'animated jif' makes me feel gross. But in all seriousness, I don't think the fact that he created it gives him any special authority on how it is pronounced. He can pronounce it however he wants to, but so can everyone else, and most dictionaries refer to actual usage. Most words aren't invented by any one person, but even if they are, once that word is in general use it is the property of everyone. Also, if he wanted people to say 'jif' he could have written .jif, as has been mentioned already. Almost every word in English with the sequence 'gif' pronounces it with a hard 'g' ("gift", "Giffords") so if people aren't pronouncing it like he wants them to THAT'S ON HIM.

Aww, I love The Californians! I love how it goes on forever!! But I am from the LA area, so maybe there's a certain joy I get in shouting to myself "those directions don't even make sense!" while crying with laughter.

Well, I have to say, I think this doesn't apply to MOST people in Los Angeles. I grew up in LA the first 18 years of my life, and most of my family still lives in the area. It always surprises me to hear these impressions of LA from people who work in the entertainment industry. Sure, the entertainment industry is a big deal in LA, and I even know people who work in it one way or another, but I feel like most people don't really participate in it that much, and certainly don't get all worked up about status. When I moved to New York City, I felt like it was as much or more preoccupied with status than LA. And don't get me wrong, I would choose NYC to live in over LA any day of the week for lots of reasons, just not because NYC is less preoccupied with status. The article is probably true insofar as it talks about what the entertainment industry in LA is like (I really wouldn't know), but I think it overestimates how much the majority of people in LA actually care about it or feel its effects.

As a resident of Chattanooga for the past few months I gotta say, the AQUARIUM IS AWESOME. Totally better than Disneyworld. These kids know what's up.

I can't really disagree with any of the points made, but I still HAVE to get an In-N-Out burger everytime I go to visit family in LA. Even if it's not the best fast-food burger, it's MY fast-food burger, damnit. I can't really make any argument for its superiority, and I have to say that Shake Shack is definitely better (though that's not really in the same category), and Five Guys is pretty damn good too. For me a double-double with animal style fries and a vanilla milk shake is still the standard of what a fast food meal should be. Ima go back to LA later this month and am pretty sure it will be the first or second meal after I land. MEMORIES!

Hi, just wanted to step in saying that there are some Christians who don't believe that God has any particular interest in American politics (except insofar as Christianity is supposed to teach concern for the poor and an abhorrence of violence, which makes one wonder if Bachmann knows about Christianity anymore than she knows about her hometown). Anyways, there are lots of us, even whole churches of us, we just don't have TV Stations or megalomania.

As a MAN, I want to say 1. There are a lot of good things said, and their heart is in the right place. 2. BUT, wtf is this about women having some sort of preternatural connection to the earth?! Do I have some preternatural connection to the sky?!?! 3. "worship each other with are bodies"?!?!? Uh, i'll just settle for respectful, consensual sex plz 4. I'm pretty sure that the war thing is bs and only the consequence of women not being in charge most of the time. It's like saying religion is responsible for all/most war - that's only because the majority of people are religious. If most people were atheists, then people would say atheism would be responsible for wars. If most leaders were women, then women would be responsible for most wars. I think the instinct to fight is human, period. Call me a FEMINIST for thinking women and men have the same potential and stuff. And now to end this very unfunny rant. Thank you for your time.

I agree that this looks like one long attempt to cheat death, but it also was pretty fun to watch. If you are a moutain biker and are good at it (I am neither), and you have it appropriately cordoned off so as to protect bystanders (it seems like they did? kinda?) then why not?
